Over Heating Ez-cloner!

Hello everyone! I have this problem that I have never ran into, My homemade ezcloner is getting way to hot! I went and checked on the res temp this morning and it say's that it is 84.8 F. I have added ice cubes to try and bring it down but now all my clones look like hell from all that heat, Has anyone ever ran into this before?

I've not used the Ez-cloner, but warm water in a res. is a problem all hydro growers run into at one point or another. Is there a water pump in the cloner? Does it run all the time? If so then the heat from the motor is contributing to the problem. Put the pump on a digital timer (digital so you can set it to run for smaller amounts of time). You could run it twice an hour for 10 minutes each run.

If you don't want to change the water pump time then you could try freezing soda bottles (with water) and using them in the res to keep the water cool. If the cloner is small then you would only want to use 20 oz. bottles so the water doesn't get too cold (which is just as bad as too warm). If the cloner is big (think more then 10 gallons) then you could use 2 liter bottles. This method requires more of your time as you need to swap out the frozen bottles a few times a day depending on how fast the water warms up.

Can we see pictures of what you're working with?

The water in the cloner doesn't have to be COLD but it should definitely not be too warm.

If putting it on a timer doesn't work, and you don't want to deal with the nonsense of playing with bottles of cold water LOL... Go ahead and pick up a water chiller... Kind of pricey, but you can set it up so that X amount of water goes in, and X amount of water goes somewhere else.

U are right florida girl- the pump I know is A problem! Just getting that bottle in there is not gonna be fun. I have thought about putting it on A timer, i was gonna move the res to A cooler are of the house and see how it goes!

A chiller was another option I was looking at since I get them at wholesale (I am A reefer)!


I am switching to A mag drive pump to cut heat down since I tried to be cheap and obiviously that didn't work out to well for me... LOL

LOL grow tech I know that line very well and I don't know why I didn't listen to it! I just gotta wait for the mag to come in to work and ride it out for now

EZ CLONER 30 here. I have had several problems using it but I hope I am working it out. Good luck. Maybe we can learn together.
