Who is mymusicveins, I have no idea. The articles have now been removed from the rollitup faq.no! damnit! the growFAQs says that if you use the FIM technique instead of regular topping, that ONE FIMmed growtip will produce 4, 6 or more new growtips.
and i quote from the growFAQs: "...diagram B indicates to make the cut below the center of the node, leaving about 10% intact. This is the key, because the vegetation left behind has cells that are rapidly dividing in many different directions. This can lead to as many as EIGHT tops from a single pruning."
this is what i'm trying to verify. noone, so far, can verify that this method works.
myMUSICveins GC says of FIM in his FAQ: "what it is, is simply a delayed top."
it has yet to be proven that FIM is anything other then a fucked up topping attempt, that causes a week downtime for your plant to heal and grow 2 new tips, the same as a regular top.
that's what i thought. thanks.I feel there is little point in it, apart from getting more clone sites from a mom. Yet, I still prefer just good ol' fashioned topping. This leaves me with more than enough colas to deal with.
i don't know who he is, but under his name, in the pruning directory, is a good article on LST. although it is mislabled as FIM.Who is mymusicveins, I have no idea. The articles have now been removed from the rollitup faq.
Ever smoked it? Beautiful plant, smell, taste, high. Perfect in every way.BTW, why is spacejill the best plant in the world?
cool. i'll remember to try it sometime. thanks.Ever smoked it? Beautiful plant, smell, taste, high. Perfect in every way.
good looking plants, man. sound like FIM harmed another plant.well the plant in the previous pic is in flowering now (last pic is about a month old).... I ended up getting 3 new growth shoots, but its all F#*ked up, no flowers are growing at the node I topped.. 2 growth shoots are the same size, and the other one is like half the size... also it looks like another branch wanted to grow but never did.... heres some pics.......
last pic is a regular top, (other plant)
wow. you're the first positive to chime in. i'm not sure i want to experiment but what's the secret to getting it right? is a 90/10% cut ratio correct? can you show example pics?I have a few pics I may be able to dig up of this process as I did it, but I can confirm that when done properly one FIM cut can produce more than 2 new tops.
In fact my first attempt at it, a complete accident more than an attempt (let go of my rope holding the lights up and the reflector sheared half the top of the plant). Anyway this "accident" had surprising results, that particular plant ended up having 4 new tops all growing equally sized top colas...so all in all...the technique works if you want my opinion. However it does seem to take a bit of tries to get it right, if you dont' cut off enough you just get leaves that are missing all of their points LOL

excellent! thank you! some pics of the new grow tips would be most helpfull, as well!I am still looking for my pics, but yes a 80/20 to 90/10 is correct.
On a side note, I am about ready to clip two more plants, this time I will take pictures as I cut to give an idea of where you clip the top of the plant.
