I was always under the impression that the government could track us by our IP address from where we upload our photos from. I don't think they would Need RIU Premission to aquire info about illegal grow ops. I have posted pics in the past, I just want to know if anyone has any info about it or if they know of anyone who has been caught like that.

I don't want to scare anyone into not posting pics, God know I have.

I never post pictures online. I also never post in growing forums. Anything that appears to originate from me must be a result of someone using my badly-secured wireless network. I didn't even post this message. :grin:

yeah not something I would be worried about... i've been told by many people "they can find me" yadda yadda, it's all just people who want to look like they know something, even though they don't.

If you get busted here, it's either because you gave away information about yourself, or because the government went through the process of getting your IP address, communicating with your ISP, and had the legal grounds to do so (which is pretty hard, they don't even bust REAL criminals like this)

Wow, if that isn't invasion of privacy I don't know what is.
I'm freaked out about it. I knew they could hear us during a call, but when it's off scares me. Can they locate you by your phone when it's off?

I'd imagine so. If they can activate the mic, then i'm sure they could track the phone too. Scary shit, ain't it. :shock:

I have to think the government has much better things to do than to waste our hard earned and payed tax dollars on than monitoring some petty weed growers. Maybe if we had some major cartels here it might be the case but I think if that were the case the website would be much better protected. They'd have some major discreet, but anonymous donations to fund the site.

BTW I hear in Maricopa county (if I remember correctly it was Maricopa), even a heavy grow like in that picture is pretty much legal because there are sooooo many growers out there that law enforcement can't even begin to catch up. I saw it on MSNBC the other night. Growers weren't even afraid to show their faces and interview. They had full blown outdoor operations and they weren't even concerned about the police finding it. There just weren't going to be any repurcussions.

i have a set of rules for talking just so i keep my privacy...my privacy.

1. never talk on the phone with exact words.
ex. so you know that thing? how much for that thing?

you can use words that hint

2. never tell anyone that you have anything, always say you know someone who can get it for you.

3. its better to meet in person

4. keep a super sparkely clean record. do everything perfect and legal. pay your parking tickets, keep your registration on your car and insurance up to date. dont give anyone any excuses to give you crap.


but then again i only grow veggies so i dont have to worry about anything.
