Here's a vote for the vaporizer. I never really smoked heavily but I bartered some IT work with a head shop for a VaporBrothers ($199) as I could never really justify spending that sort of change on something to smoke bud. I was dating a girl who had bad asthma, so it was a win-win.

Maybe a Volcano does a better job, but I've never used it. Presentation is vital to cooking, and smoking is no different: Smoking out of a huge plastic bag is just unappealing to me. Same reason I won't ever be strapping on a gas-mask to get baked

Nothing comes close in terms of efficiency. The vapors go straight to your head, and smoke is simply more "debilitating" for lack of a better word. However, that's not to say that I don't enjoy a good spliff or blunt (my second-favorite but most wasteful way to smoke).

I have a fine vaporizer, and a single bowl, which will do the job very well (two is almost too much) consists of no greater than a third of a gram, by my best estimate. What's left over isn't bad for mixing with spliffs, etc. One great thing about it is that you can really taste the ganj.

And, of course, there are the painfully obvious benefits:

1. You will not smell like bud
2. Your apartment will not smell like bud*
3. It's the healthiest way to inhale

And one not-so-obvious one: Because my vaporizer is "passive" in nature, meaning that the heat passes over the buds as you breath in, it can be left turned on and enjoyed selectively. Very few, if any, vapors are wasted in this case. The best analogy that I can come up with for smokers would be if your pipe were to have a pilot light over the bowl. But even in that case, fuel would need to be provided and smoke would undoubtedly be wasted by an unattended, recently smoked bowl. This is not the case for passive vaporizers.

My only complaint is that the "bowl" (or whatever the proper terminology may be in this case) can be a pain to empty. To fix that, I have a $5 "cleaning pick" on the way from the manufacturer right now.

* Back in college, my roommates and I were vaporizing some buds in our dorm when we were rudely interrupted by the building's director (HR) for some arbitrary reason. Although we were on another planet, all we had to do was put the vaporizer under my bed to avoid some serious, unexpected trouble.

I also have a vaporizer. I like the taste that I get with my vape. I also like taking the time to grind up my smoke, which is a little moist, pack it, load a whip with some strong smelling herb and then heat it up and kick it down a notch for a nice slow smoke. I tried out of a bong after smoking from a vape now for about a month and I will NEVER touch a bong again if I am not at home smoking from my vape....Unreal a vaporizer is, my inlaws were here and couldn't even tell...my wife has no idea when I do it cause there is no smell....spend the money, you wont regret it...plus, the high is different.

I think that the hardest thing is that fine line between getting the most out of your bud, and burning the bud, at which point (1) you're smoking somewhat, and (2) it does smell faintly (and briefly, maybe for ten to fifteen minutes).

I think I like my temps a bit higher because my bud comes out pretty dark when its done. Vapes rule the only problem is they are not very portable. That is why I want the volcano so I can just walk around with the bag

I have no greater a desire to take a stroll with my vape than I do my hookah, but you make a valid point. Anyway, I go until the bud's a light brown.

I just checked the stuff in there now is light brown. I'm still getting tons of vapor. I wonder how hot my vape is? It just has a dial so I don't know the exact temperature.

What kind of vape do you have? Light smoke, especially to long-time smokers like us, is difficult to discern from vapor.
I have a vapor tower. Does not seem like smoke bud doe snot really look burnt when it comes out. I'm looking at bunch of it now it just looks dark brown with some light brown a bit of green.

A good rule of thumb is to keep vaping until none of the bud has any green. It's surprising that you have dark brown bud and green bud in the same bowl. It sounds as though your vape is unevenly heating the bud. I will say that it's a nice-looking vape.

It uses a double screen so it vapes it pretty even but stuff gets caught between the screen and edge that stays green or light brown. My weed is pretty bright green so I expect a little in the leftovers because it takes a long time to make it brown in the vape.

Yeah I keep vaping until all the product is dark brown, I can tell the difference in the taste when the product actually begins to burn down and brown out

You can taste burned. It starts to taste like burn popcorn if I set the dial too high.

Damn this is some good shit . . . .bongsmilie
