1st Grow - cabinet, bagseed, cfls

I started small to verify I could keep a living thing alive. Plus, I am all about stealth! This is where I grow, an upper cabinet in my garage...



Seedlings were a lot of fun to watch grow...



i forced them to flower just 3 weeks old, to see what they were capable of.
one month old, 1 week into flower:



4 weeks into flower:



the final four plants fit like an LST puzzle into the cabinet.





note the air intake at the top of the cabinet, i have tied into the HVAC of the adjoining room. this cabinet is in my hot garage, but as long as temps are ambient inside my house, my 50cfm exhuast fan will keep plenty of air moving thru this tiny space.

this was my hood. 7 cfls. 4 warm, 3 cool. 1500 lumens each spread very well across the tiny space.


this low light lamp will still be used in that space for my mother and clones. but i will now double my growspace by expanding into the next cabinet.



Expansions include a new 250 watt hps lamp and Joey Weed White Widow seeds.

With regards the smoke. I harvested after right about 8 weeks of flowering, when trics were at about 70% amber. Thats 2 1/2 months total grow time. i don't have a scale, but i would estimate i got about one full ounce dry from the 4 plants. maybe a little more.

I water cured my best plant (#4) but lost so many trics down the drain, plus it tasted like shit so i trashed it. what a waste. i'll stick to air drying.

i air dried 3 plants, but had my computer fans running in the space and they dried them out too quickly. (don't do this!) i ended up placing them in jars and re-hydrated them with a lemon peel just fine. next time i will use bread though, so there is no lemon taste.

after 3 weeks of jar curing, potency is higher then i expected for flowering so young and such low light. the high hits you like it's Kind for about 30 minutes then goes away quietly. not bad considering it's mexican dirt weed and all 4 plants turned out to be hermies, sprouting about a dozen seeds each right at the end of flowering.

White Widow is on her way. I can't wait to begin the next experiment.

Very impressive cult. I would never think it would be possible to harvest buds like that giving your type of setup. How do you plan on cooling your hps once you get it. Its going to get real hot in that small space. Whenever you expand your op. let us know.

i plan to use a 50cfm ventilator to exhaust thru the pvc pipe housing my 250w hps bulb. presto: air cooled hps+exhaust in one, ABOVE the cabinet, not it in. that should mean minimum heat build-up in the small space.

all in all, micro managin a small space is easier then a large one. but only two mature plants can be harvested at a time. to make it worthwhile, i am aiming for a long veg next time, major LST and supercropping techniques. let's see how hard these girls can be pushed.:hump:

ken; i didn't have a scale but a looked like an ounze, may a tad more, dry. i've never grown with an hps before and i just got a 150 bulb. from what i read, with every technique i've learned on rollitup, i want two ounces from my next plant in that bigger grow space. is that wishfull thinking?

D; the hood is that white foam board from cvs or wallgreens. cut and scotch tape it. used 18 guage wire to link up those standard replacment light bulb fixtures. all from lowes. i used the cord from a broken appliance to be able to plug the hood into a timer outlet.

with info i got off rollitup i think im gna aim for 2oz a plant next grom

Very nice. Here's what I found about overheating. I used a 400 w HPS and a couple of CFLs and here's what happened. If The Buds got closer than about 10-12 inches from the HPS they didnt form right, just a skinny little cluster of pollops on the buds, the ones that were more than a foot away from the lamp, grew like they should, full and compact. I used a 70FPM fan to exhaust the smell into the attic and a little fan to blow accross the plant into the intake of the exhaust fan, Even this did not entirely eliminate the smell, If you open the bedroom door, it will knock you down, but I love the smell and it is also my computer room, so I stay asphyxiated while I.m........ ttt....y.........p............i...........n.......g, sssnoooooore.

I believe it is wishful. I am on track to get 12-14 oz.s from one WW hybrid plant, but the grow space is: 2 FT.X 4 FT.X 5-1/2 FT. or 44 cubic ft. Your area looks to be on the low side of five or six cubic ft, so two ozs would be difficult The heat factor will be critical. you need to increase your grow area. Maybe build a new cabinet with a vent in the top going into your attic to diffuse the smell and allow for some cooling airflow. Good luck no matter what you decide. My plan for your cabinet would be one from floor to ceiling, 3-4 ft wide and 2 ft deep, basically 2X4X8 or 64 cubic ft, then you could have a sea of green set up with your clones on top and your smoke on the bottom, or just one vainglorious plant such as 300+++ gram plant, almost an lb.

that's exactly what i'm planning. the light will be ABOVE the cabinet, not in it. and glass to seperate it, with the exhuast fan pulling the air thru the bulb housing, into the attic.

completely air cooled for the new cabinet space. (see final pic)
