Midori's 2nd Grow (First Journal) Closet CFL grow

Hey everyone, how'd you all get in my room? :shock:

Short history on my first grow:
-Ended up with one plant, male.. that's all you need to know! haha

Ok, onto the new grow.

Grow area: Closet (the indoor variety)

Seeds:
Scientific Name: Seedus Baggius
Common name: Bagseed, hydro grown (strain unknown.. from a magical gnome)

General Info:
I got one plant so far which sprouted about 2 weeks ago. It was the only seed I got to grow roots using paper towel method (first time trying it), planted others anyway but they never sprouted.

Got another 4 cups with seeds waiting to sprout (went back to soak in cup of water for 24hours method). Been in soil for about 48 hours. One has started to break the surface today.

I transplanted the one with leaves out of its cup and into a pot today.

Light-cycle: 24/0

CFL Lights:
Plant with leaves:
-1 x 24w 6500K (1450Lumen) above.
-2 x 24w 2700K at side of it (just added them today)

And 2x 24w 2700K above the 4 cups with seeds.

I have another 24w & 13w 2700K but no lamps for them.

I'm going to get a few more CFLs soon and enough lamps to use all lights at once (combo of 2700k and 6500k).

Water:
Boiled and filtered tap water and leave it in an open container before using (if I dont need to use it straight away).

Grow medium: Potting Mix containing:
-Soluble plant food
-Controlled release fert (I know this is bad)
-Rewetting granules
-Water Crystals & Zeolite
-Complete plant food plus trace elements
-Fully organic compost & peat

Nutes:
None added yet but the potting mix I'm using has controlled release fertiliser in it (see above).

Temp: Today it was 32 dregrees Celsius (90 deg Fahrenheit). Only day I've checked it (had to borrow weather station from another part of the house).

Humidity: Today it was 60% (again, only day I've checked it).

Soil pH: Not sure, might try and get a cheap test kit or pH probe to check it.

Now that another plant has sprouted I will try to get some more CFLs, STAT!

Oh, and I saw the sticky about not posting in peoples grow journals unless they ask so FEEL FREE TO POST IN MY JOURNAL :-P

Midori, your baby has nute burn, probably from the slow release soil. I can actually see the slow release balls in your pics.

You mean the tips of those big leaves? I don't know if that's nute burn or not cause that happened straight after I watered the leaves, i think it cause the light to burn them but idk? Maybe it is nute burn from the slow release fert.

I try to get rid of as many of the fert balls by flooding the soil prior and getting them to float up but yeh still be some in there.

Thanks for pointing out those ones on the surface I'll grab them out now.

Thanks for the rep, but what does the blue one mean? Shit or even the green. I have alot, but do not understand what they are for.

Yeh, man I'm happy I got 3 so far but hopefully I get another 1-2 seeds to sprout.

I got no idea what the colours mean bro lol. I didn't have any options so maybe blue is given by newbies like me.

Yeh I did, left a reply, you'd just got the hps setup but I'll check out your progress see how that bad boy is going.

Update: Bought 4 new lamps and 2 more 24w 6500K CFLs (1450Lumen) today.

You can see my closet is cluttered as f**k at the moment with all the new lamps (had to take out all my clothes except my suits which need to hang there in order to accomodate the space required).

So now each of the 3 sprouted plants have a 6500K above them and the oldest one also has 3 24w 2700K surrounding it.

The 2 cups with unsprouted seeds each have a 24w 2700k above them and an incandescent bulb pointing on the side of both cups to try and heat up the soil a bit.

While I was at the shop I checked out some potting mixes but only found one that seemed to not have any slow release ferts added, but it didnt say much else about what it had in it so I was worried it might not have all the good drainage/aeration and micro nutrients and stuff in it that the one I'm using at the moment has.

First time I've really checked out gardening section, was a bit overwhelmed by all the different products they have like ferts, soil additives and all that.

Also, are the probe type soil pH meters with a metal pole you stick in the soil and have a needle to show you the reading any good or should I get the soil ph test kit they had?

Nice and compact bro, you should cut those lower leaves off so the plant can spend all it's energy on the new growth and any energy trying to heal the damaged leaves. Also, you should have got 6500k, but 2700k will still be fine. Other than that lookin sweet.

thanks man, i'll cut those low leaves off like u said. the 2 new ones i bought yesterday were 6500K but all the ones I already had (except one) were 2700K cause last grow by the time i had cash to buy more lights i decided to start flowering my plant so I bought all 2700k then.

I just cut off the lower leaves on my plant like pennywise recommended and noticed there is a little four leaf clover looking thing sprouted in its pot.

Do you think it's just some random weed (not marijuana) thats started growing in there?

Eh midori that's a weed pull that out. LOL. Where did you get your soil?

Do you water with tap water?

Lol damn, when i watered my plant it washed it under the soil. if it grows back ill pull the lil fucker out.

Soil is from a bag of potting mix I had lying round the house.

I water with tap water but I boil and filter it and usually leave it an open container before using.

No more seeds have sprouted so looks like I might just have the 3 plants.

Not sure yet, hoping at least one will be.

Some pics I took monday. As you can see the youngest has become an albino. I'm guessing this is bad for a plant that should be green :leaf:

I transplanted it and the other younger one to plastic pots, hoping the new soil would help out the white abomination that it currently has become, but it hasnt helped. Its the same.
So if it dies I will have just the two. Both of which I think now have nute burn.
