Day 7.. Still Nothing plz Help

hey everyone thanks for takin the time to read this.. I germ'ed 3 seeds until the white root cracked out then planted them in soil on 1/29/09. It is now 2/5/09 and still nothing has sprouted out yet.. So i started to think and i noticed my flos were more then 10 inchs from the cups I planted them in. Also when I water them I use a spray bottle only with 6.5-7.0ph water and I slowly pull the handle till it drips out the nose a few times to wet the top of the soil. So I brought the light lower to be 6 inchs from the cups but I was thinking about going to 3inchs from the cups and do you guys think im being to careful to not over water?

3" would be better just keep your soil moist not satchated. you don't want to drownd them

your light needed to be closer,,, you can put it within 2 in. and still be good... I hope you didnt put the seed too deep in the dirt,, I usually only plant about 1/4 to 1/2 inch below the surface so it wont have too much trouble popping out....

It doesnt matter how high your light is right now! You dont even need your lights ON untill the pop out the soil/medium. Just make sure they arent too wet. I havea felling you are overwatering them.

yeah i have always planted mine 3/16 under the soil and also put mine in a humidity dome normally would sprout withing 2 days tho and no light for the first few days normally keep mine in the dark

IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW CLOSE THE LIGHT IS AT THIS POINT, THERE ARE NO LEAVES TO ABSORB THE LIGHT YET....ONCE THE COTYLEDON LEAVES OPEN THEN GET THE LIGHT WITHIN 3 INCHES.
YOU MIGHT HAVE PUT THE SPROUTED BEAN TOO DEEP, 1/4 INCH IS GOOD.
GET A HEAT PAD, LITTLE SPROUTS LOVE TO HAVE THEIR BUTTS WARM.
DO NOT OVERWATER, MORE PLANTS ARE RUINED BY OVERWATERING , THAN BY UNDERWATERING. THINK ABOUT THE ROOTS GETTING THE AIR CIRCULATION THEY NEED, IF THE ROOTS ARE ALWAYS SATURATED WITH WATER THE ROOTS ARE GETTING NO AIR.

the reason I say that you can put the light closer is that it sounds to me like you may have planted it a little too deep and the heat from the light will help,, not the actual light help,, I do realize that when people are starting out they prob. dont have things like heating pads so the close light for heat idea has always worked in a pinch for me in the past.. good luck again....

Hmm maybe thats the problem then... I think I may have put the seed a little to deep if everyone agrees with 1/4-1/2 inch... I think I planted mine about 1inch down.. Will they come up anyway just take longer?

there's a good chance they won't. a seed only has so much energy on reserve. that's why you don't wait until the tap root is 1" long after the seed has popped, because that is too long. with access to proper moisture they can go a bit further... but they need those rays of sunshine.

"plants are not inviolate in the root system" don't be afraid to upend one or two (or all) of the seeds. carefully remove them from the soil. if any of the cotyledon or primary/initial leaves are showing place them just above the soil surface with the root facing down. if you have a 1" root dangling out of a seed, also place that seed just barely 'floating' above the surface of the soil with the root hanging down in the soil and gently push the soil back up to contact the tap root.

sometimes you can have 10 out of 10 seeds pop... and almost all of them fail to do anything more. but i'd deffinitely take a 'looksy' and try to assist them.

your temps may also be too cold.. germed seeds dont like to sprout in the cold..
