Any chance you can get your pump out of the res? That is to blame for a good chunk of the heat. Sorry, but I don't remember exactly how your set-up was, but even some of the cheap pumps allow you to run inline -that is keep the pump outside the res while it still pumps water.

There is also just the hard word of putting frozen icepacks in there as well.

Yeah, I agree. I just took mine out and blam, 65 and stayin' alive.

I was thinking if you had a couple of long air hoses you could have another small res filled with ice or ice water and submerge the lines in there. If it was a cooler type setup, it would last for days. I'm thinking along those routes, because come june and then on around here it's going to be 100F + outside. (mine is inside but shares temps with the outisde).

In any case, this setup would cool the air going into the airstone, then cool the res water as well. Cheap too.

In my experience air pumps wont help bring temps down much since the air comming out is usually warmed by the air pump.

The deeper you put the stone the more pressure it takes to push air out of it and thus the pump works harder and produces more heat. Keep this in mind when building your own system.

If you want to build something.
I think your best bet would be running hose through a bucket/tote/cooler filled with cool water coil the hose around a few times inside to allow more exposure to the cool water.

Stay away from any metal type radiators since your useing salt based nutrients that will most likely lead to rust.
Small scale metal systems used for computers use a special liquid with anti rust agents.

Hope that helps good luck and stay cool:eyesmoke:

i went to the store and got the stuff to plumb it out of the res but what about the filter? do i need 1

Damn. It is always something isn't it? Short answer is that I don't know. I see they sell inline filters though. Any chance of reusing the filter from the pump and just affixing it to the end of the hose that is doing the sucking? A zip tie or something?

i am going to start over on the whole thing..
i want a more squared tote and found a nice one at walmart..and have decided to make two of them and switch my whole grow form soil instead of half..
the pump that i have needs to be siphoned to get started a would be a big pain once i have big plants in it and mabe a few less jets cuz there is allot of restriction now..
