and FYI and especially to
SpruceZeus
this was the beginning of the "apple testing":
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Hello 'Blue',
You wrote to me many, many months ago with a juice machine question, and
crazy as it sounds, the message must have gone to my junk box.
While cleaning out my mail box the other day, I came across your e-mail
knowing that I had never sent a response.
I forwarded your problem on to one of our writers, Evan Folds, and the
message below is what he had to say.
I realize this advice is likely coming to you way too late - but I thought I
would forward it anyway in the event that you are still curious.
I sincerely apologize for not finding this message sooner and wish you good
luck in all of your growing ventures.
Answer: Very interesting indeed. This idea is played out in banana and other
fruit extracts found on the market that claim to enhance flavor and yield,
but I would like to take the question on a different level. It's hard to say
how the yield would be affected, but it is very possible that it would be
enhanced. Here we come to the importance of the fertility elements involved
in the process of life not connected to increases in yield or bulk. Was the
crop grown in soil or hydro? It would be good to know that the 25% apple
pulp was used in soil where microbiology can play a direct role in the
equation. I'm sure the pulp is a great food source for beneficial organisms
and they are alchemists. How was the apple grown? Was it from the
supermarket or from a local orchard? Did the grower utilize biodynamic or
sea-mineral-based agriculture? The mere presence of elements in the apple
tissue not deemed "essential" by the powers that be can have significant
influences over plant growth. These things may seem trivial, but many times
the more subtle things are more profound than what we conventionally pay
attention to. Great idea!
Kindest Regards,

We've exchanged several emails and I've managed to produce some results. While the flavors are "hints" of apple, he's brought up some good points that will require several grows to test.
Not really sure why I felt the urge to reply to this thread, other than to say this is not simply a myth and even people more involved believe this is quiet possible.
