I dont know to much about that man ... but a dog is a meat eater or scavenger by breed if I'm right .. a Horse or Cow ... (manure wise) is a grain grass veg eater ... . you are what you eat to a degree .. and what comes out of you is just the same ... So it might not have the same values as a normal manure or fertilizer in my opinion. ... but see what others have to say ... Just throwing this out there .. Dog poo is sort of gross... LOL... haha .. for some reason I have a better feeeling with poo from lifestock rather that my Lab ... LOL

He is basically right here as well. The reason livestock manure works is because they eat grass, alfalfa, hay, and other shit like that. All of which is high in nitrogen. Dogs and cats eat dog and cat food, and it's nothing like grass.

First off it wouldnt leave an after taste. For it to leave a shit after taste the plant would have to absorb pure dog shit and store it in the buds. Since all of us educated growers know thats not how plants take up nutrients, this wont happen.
I wouldnt recommend using it, But the basic rule of thumb for manure is meat eaters are high in N and non meat eaters will be higher in PK.
When you buy bat guano fruit bats make PK guano and meat/insect eaters make N guano.
If you were to use it you wouldnt be putting it on the plants wet and steamy right out of the dogs ass. Like any manure you would need to give it time to dry out and break down. A lot of the smell would be gone, but I dont think you could ever really 100% eliminate the dog shit smell in your soil.

I would also say no. Manure from grazers makes good fertilizer, but not from meat eaters. Why don't you just spend 10 bucks and buy some nutes?

You can compost it. Along with food scraps, lawn clippings, etc. Also piss on your compost pile as it helps with heat and nitrogen and lots of trace minerals which add-up, and it's food for the microbes which break compost down(it can get 'stale' compost kicking again)!
Then mix the compost with your choice of soil and bam! Some of the best soil on Earth. You can also take your old potting soil and compost it after a grow.
If you can get a rolling-drum composter(kind of pricey, but worth it), they're usually brown or black to absorb heat all year round, and provide extra air flow. Plus it's really easy to mix your compost(turn the crank), which is important. And it keeps it all contained(like the smell), which is awesome.
Then mix the compost with your choice of soil and bam! Some of the best soil on Earth. You can also take your old potting soil and compost it after a grow.

Better compost is made from non animal products. This is how we get samonella in spinach and fun stuff like that, using animal products to grow plants.
Vegetal compost would be so much better.

I'm a gardener. I have a compost pile the size of your apartment. Every published book I've read warns against using animal (edit: carnivore) feces in compost piles. Not only is it a medical risk as MissHesterMoffitt stated, but toxic heavy metals are present as well and can build up in your compost, in your grow, in you. And fresh feces is too 'hot'. The nitrogen in there will automatically burn your plants.

My dogs eat homemade highly organic vegetarian food(90%), so I'm not worried about it. What else do people do with their pet's poop? I don't see *ANY* hazard as compost takes a long time to mature. By the time it's usable the bad critters will be long dead(it's not poop anymore, doesn't smell like poop, it smells like rich soil, with a strong(dominate) microbial content capable of taking out any stray salmonella or whatever). Poop does wonders for the grass *around* it, raw. Human excrement, which is largely used as fertilizer, comes from recovered sewage sludge. I'll take my dog's poop over my own our yours! No offense to either of us.

Human excrement, which is largely used as fertilizer, comes from recovered sewage sludge.
Highly treated human waste like Milorganite (Milwaukee's packaged up sewage sludge) is derived from human waste. It's great for greening up lawns, but I wouldn't dream of putting it on a crop I was going to consume. Heavy metals, agricultural chemicals, are present in significant concentrations in human waste.
You'll use bat guano but not dog? Why? Fish poop? Horse, cow, human, etc....
Guanos are typically very very old and decomposed, sometimes for centuries. Bats are fairly low in the predator chain and have short lives and thus don't accumulate toxins (like mercury in tuna, for example) at significant rates.
