Mylar is a good reflective surface, but most experts will tell you that plants like diffused light and white is a better surface than mylar. Even though I knew this information I used a mylar like surface in my grow area, but next grow I will remove and expose white walls.

What I used an "Autoshade". I chose this because I wanted some insulation from heat and I believe this works well. I went to the autozone and bought 2 of them for $6 bucks each.

You should be very cautious when using flamable materials near heat sources, accidents do happen.

Hey Purpz, come see my purpz!!! i'm harvetsting dude! yipee!
haha they look gooooood.
alright guys, sorry i havent been doing updates, its been a crazy week. i had to show my house a few days ago so i stashed the plant at a buddies house, i grabbed it back the next day and now its back at my house.

my only concerns are, the plant went out in the cold a few times for a couple moments... i know it probibly stressed her out, but could it kill the flowers?? here's a few pics i took today. also the tops of some of the hairs are pink, does that have anything to do with the cold? (im in MN.)

thanks,

MN, you oughta know then... Give her some chicken noodle soup, a matza ball, and a shot of whisky, she'll be fine.

Actually, I bet you/she are/is fine. I, like you, seemed to get very concerned about things that plants in the wild wouldn't even flinch at. Anhow, I would imagine that things should be okay.

Can't wait to see what you get off her.

yea thats true man, i just know the flowers can be delicate. the idiot I let hold on to her overnight kept her in a room that probably wasn't over 60 degrees.

since I brought her home I havent noticed any REAL improvement, I'm assuming she got stressed out and its probably gunna knock everything back a week or so until she gets back into the groove of things.

any other comments or suggestions?

thanks,

I think these gurls are like having kids to us, we brag, and show pictures, and I even keep one in my wallet (Treo)... Nobody will treat them as we wish, and when somebody does, they will be "IN, the circle of trust".

As long as you don't freeze your plants,
you won't have any shock.

If you look at my 4 inch grow,
the highest temp during most of the grow has been around 63ºf

My room has a recording thermometer
and the daily temp range is 55º-63º

daaamn.. i thought the temp had to be atleast 70. glad to know that, thanks man.

alright guys sorry for another late update.. ive been a little busy, but here she is. hopefully only a few weeks out of harvest. i dont know if the buds are getting heavy or what, but most of the branches are leaning (not towards the light) a couple even bent and almost snapped off. i tied a few up, any other suggestions? i want to honestly trim 50% of my fan leaves, there driving me crazy.. can I?

any opinions?

thanks,

Opinion- more light or meve them closer if you can without heat issues. THey are looking a little thin/stretched which is usually from lack of light/intensity. and get some air moving if you haven't.

Thats nice to know cause growing here in the north has had me a little worried and forced me to change my light schedule. Daytime for the plants are 9pm-9am and nite time is vice versa so the heat stays up at night. Earl what would the highest temp that a grow room can get before there are mold and insect problems. My temp in my grow cabinet gets as low as 58 degrees during the day and when the lights are on it gets as high as 75 degress. I have a fan on the top shelf that is pointing down and there is cracks that allow air circulation when the lights are on for circulation and to keep it cool. Heas a pic of my violator kush plant let me know what u think and any advice on what i should or shouldnt do in the last few weeks of flowering? Thanks in advance and an awesome thread hea... Heas the pics..

Do not cut ur fan leaves. They carry nutes and proteins that ur plant will use in the flowering stage. I neva cut any leaves unless they are blocking light to buds. I usually let them get brown and peel them off. I cut the small buds that come out of the base of the plant the ones that wont even get to be the size of a gum ball. I was told it would take the thc and nutrients that would have been forced to the smaller buds change route and go the larger colas. I agree that u should lower ur lights though. The closer they are the more light and enery ur plants will absorb and ur colas will fatten up in no time. I wouldnt do it thats my opinion. Unless earl says other wise

I think i found the root of my problem.... when the grow area is closed the branches lean against thick blankets.. so im assuming since the branches have support like that, there getting weaker because they dont have to support there selves.... so when the support (blanket) isnt there, they simply slump over because they're used to having something to lean on.

does this sound correct?

PS thanks for the suggestions and opinions guys!

that makes sense, but also it could be because the "support blanket" is blocking light from getting to the areas it is supporting.

Do you have smoke detectors nearby? Not trying to be a dick, just concerned about the blanket becoming too warm if there was an accident or somebody mistakenly set something atop the support unit and caused it to fail.

One cool thing about being stealthy is that nobody has to know. A downside to that is that the unaware can easily cause problems by not knowing. I had a girlfriend who kept closing windows on me when i needed that ventilation to keep temps in operating ranges (I have temperature sensor/shut-off on lights, just in case...). My temps got high and one light shut off several times during testing. without the sensor the heat could've melted something that was supporting something else and next would have been the investigation as to how I burned the building down.

I am growing legally, but you get the idea i hope...

yea believe me, i know exactly what u mean. i made it so the lights are hanging atleast 10'' away from the blanket. there are two blankets, one white sheet than a heavy blanket over that. im using the white sheet as a cheap, but ( ive heard) decent reflective material.

the nice thing is that the room its in, there is nothing in there besides the plant, and yes there is a smoke detector in the room. another nice thing about CFL's is that they dont get hot at all, and they have a built in fan keeping it from over heating. the area durring the day probibly doesnt get over 80-85 degrees F, and at night probibly drops down to 68-70 degrees F.

other than that i just picked up half oz of somesuper dank tree. it doesn't have a name but it looks like a str8 bowl of cocain when its packed... its that white. packing a bowl as I type.
