Hermie Northern Lights PLant

Okay well I'm not going to go into extensive details because I already have answers to most of my questions. So here is the problem:

I had a Northern Light mother (seeds were from nirvana-shop), I have grown NL numerous times and always got females, the last grow I did the NL ended up being a hermie and I realized it after it went 2 weeks without showing any real signs of growth, then I look closer and see the obnoxious banana bunches.

Anyway, my NL mom I flowered back in January and it really only has like 3-4 weeks tops left in the flowering period. It's topped once and it like 3 feet tall with 4 main branches instead of one main cola. It has been fattening up nice until today, I checked it about five minutes ago and notice one of the fucking banana bunches on it. I seriously could have shit myself, I was so pissed. So knowing that I could possibly act upon this before it's too late, I ran and grabbed some tweezers to pluck off the 2 visible yellow sacks I could see, then I scoped over the plant more thoroughly to make sure I didn't miss any.

My real question is, I need this harvest, like seriously need it, and I want to know if I keep up with this plant and pull the banana bunches off as they appear, if they do continue to appear (lets pray that they do not), is there a chance I can stop the plant from pollinating others in the room as well as allowing it to make it up to harvest time in March. Any input would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I know that usually hermie means that the plant is screwed, but in this situation, do they continue to grow budwise even if they are creating those annoying banana bunches?

well seeds will be produced in the buds where you won't even see them. And it obviously won't put all its effort into budding.

I know the "point" of hermies is self-pollination, so it may very well pollinate others around. It would be best to separate the hermie if possible.

Thanks for the response dude, I was getting worried nobody would reply, haha. Well see I figured that much, seeing as I've had plants go hermie on before and I didn't realize until I found seeds. However, I guess what my real question is, if I at least try to keep up with what visible yellow sacks I can see, do I at least have a chance of saving the plant? Meaning it won't pollinate itself. If that makes sense.

And I'm pretty sure the hermie was caused by heat stress, seeing as it grew so damn much when I put it under the 400w HPS, I was like shit I knew I should've topped it even more, so I was like bending branches, etc. It's just that some of the top branches are too close to the light, well not too close but I can tell there's too much heat so tomorrow when lights are on I guess my goal will be to get more air flow between the buds closest to the light and the light itself.

Thanks again for your response. I have gone a while without a harvest and I'm getting down to my last little bud in the stash. All of my old connections have gone away so I'm sort of SOL when it comes to smoke and I've been cutting down significantly since I realized I might be screwed. Plus paying $65 a cut for some (no name) kill you know was grown by a local guy with what he told people "$1000s worth of ORGANIC nutrients", organic my ass....yeahhhh no.

do not kill that plant! u can pluck those buggers off no problem..
i have had to check 14 3 footers every day....and that was a bitch but my buds came out seedless except for about 6 seeds per 1/4 pound and that was prolly cuz i didn't catch it soon enough, and i was pulling about twenty bananas off each plant from the 3rd week on all the way to harvest wich is when i found out that one of the lil push buttons on the timer was pulled up so to not get 12 hours rest..not to mention if u fix the problem and the genetics aren't to bad the nanners will stop after a week..

Now and again you will get the odd male flower. Many times, once pulled off, no more male flowers will appear.
I hope this is what happens for you. Just keep an eye on it.

I just pulled about a dozen bananas today also. I feel you. I just pluck them hoping to slow down the production of pollen.

the way i did it was grab a pinch of bud with each banana with my fingers cuz there was no way to use tweezers the bananas snap in half and could couse pollen to fly then throw them in some water cuz it kills pollen..

Chop her ASAP, I just tried to save one this last week actually who ended up herming. Save yours before it's too late and she starts making balls in the middle of your buds! I thought I was winning the war on pollen to be very sad when my sample nug ended up having seeds in it. Apparently she/he had been using my heavy feeding to make lots of walnut like seeds! :(

Whoa, I got a lot more responses since I last checked this thread.

Anyways, I wanted to give all of the people that replied to this thread an update on my situation.

As Mammath said, sometimes you get the odd male flower, I don't want to jinx myself by saying this but I think that was my case. From the time I posted this I had pulled maybe 4 bananas off of 2 of the 4 top colas (it was a topped plant). Meaning there was only a total of 4. I'm not saying I got them all, I'm sure the little bastards are inside my colas producing seeds right now as I type. I seem to keep having this problem with the Northern Light plants I grow from Nirvana. Has anybody else had a hermie problem with that seed banks NL seeds?

Anyways, it seems that the buds are still fattening up nicely, the one cola appears so heavy now that it's actually pulling the branch downwards.

I decided I'm going to chop her in about 2 weeks from now, even if it means giving up a little potential weights. To my experience I found that the longer I let her go, the more she'll end up weighing in the end, even if it's passed the stated flowering weeks from the seed bank.

I'm not TOO concerned with the other females in the room because they're all clones and were all brought over within the last 2 weeks so they haven't yet formed buds on them, they're still stretching out towards the light.

Just wanted to give an update. Thanks for all of the responses, I appreciate them.

I just plucked a couple of male flowers off my female (hermie?). she is 2.5 weeks into flowering she had female preflowers and a bunch of female flowers by now, but just noticed today there was some balls forming too, i plucked them and i will be checking every day now for more so i can pluck them soon enough. I had 4 stressed females before (first grow)and got 10 seeds from my whole harvest which was like 5 oz.

More than likely yes the clones will be hermie.
It's not worth the risk to grow them out and have the same thing happen.

u have more chance taking seed off the herm plant and growing from seed, sexing the plant and see wot u get, people say u cant get a full on female off a herm but u can!!! its just a bit hit and miss, u may get a male - female - or a herm!!
its worth planting 10 or so seeds to see what u get? what u think m8?
