I know you're out in the middle of nowhere, but you should just get another HID. Here's a metal halide ballast kit for $45. It's actually cheaper than their 250w kit.

Around here, the bigger CFLs are way more expensive than HIDs anyway..... maybe it's different where you're at? CFLs are just too weak.

youll be fine with the cfl, I keep 4 to 6 moms at a time under an 80 watt shop lamp. Keeps them alive and doing ok. When i need clones in a hurry, I put them under a 200 watt T5, and have all i need in less than 2 weeks.

Peace

thats what i was gonna ask also...because i got a shop light i use for seedlings and clones but i dont need clones except like every 2-3 mo so this would be perfect slower growth under a shop light

The heat issue throws a lot of people off, but you have to realize that watts = heat. 2 x 125w CFLs puts off the same amount of heat as a 250w MH. You probably won't notice until summer, or perhaps in a confined spaces, but it's there.

That setup looks tight P. Only advice I can really give is to keep them uber-small.... top early and often. Cut them back while the growth is soft and don't be afraid to hack if it gets crowded under there. I always feel safe with just 3 nodes...... and I trim with extreme prejudice.

Wish I could get you some pics of the damage I do. ;-) Basically once I have taken all the cuts I need, I'll pull the plant out of the 2 gallon pot, and cut the rootball down to the size that would fit into a 4" Kord; then I cut back that foliage to the 3 lowest and healthiest nodes and re-pot back into the 2 gallon. Just sayin'.... don't be afraid to tame them, dig?

they may especially if you have genetics that are easally stressed, but outside of that these weeds could take alot, ive had them run over, split open by hail, half eaten by deer, rooled on by a bear ect ect and no sign of hemies, but some strains are hermie prone from the get go,so it helps to know your genetics.

actually i meant that knowing if the strain your dealing with is hermy prone from past, but if you use the above said teckniques and they hermy you probably dont want them as mothers in your room,if they dont then you know you have strong genetics and less headaches down the road, but i did have a BB that had a trippy high and donkey dick buds that was prone to hermy, but it was always docile nanners late in flower.let the strongest survive, less headaches later.

second that!!
number one thing i look for in a mom.... iv let crazy shit die off just cuz it was too much of a hastle to keep

pick moms you wont have to pamper, ones that will take a little abuse
