What are the different reasons that a plant goes HERMIE?

What are all of the different ways that a female plant can turn hermie. I had 5 different kinds and multiple seeds of each and they all went hermie? The plants looked healthy and all of a sudden they are all producing male flowers at 30 days into flower everyone was a hermie.?????

light leakage in your flowering room
Or really high stress there whole lives.
I got a hermy from a plant that I put into flowering after about 5 days of veg. The strain didnt like being forced to flower before its time in my opinion. Thats actually the only hermy that I have gotten so far so I am no expert
I have had a couple stressed females spit out a single male pollen sack on a few branches but that can be caused by a few different things.

Weed is amazingly adaptable... stress can bring on hermies. Think about it tho, it's a wonderful trait to possess. The ability to self pollinate is quite an advantage, even though some the seed produced will be sterile. It's better than nothing at all.

I know growers can't stand them but they are not after the overall health of the plant...they just want female buds, but looking at the big picture, hermies may have saved a strain or two in the wild in its long history.

I say in honor of all the great things hermys have done for the survival of marijuana you should keep it as your pet and see how big it gets. Maybe you could put it outside and name it Pat

where in the wild is 1 lone female plant? "the only left of it's kind in the world. once it dies it's gone."

All sorts of stuff happens in the wild... a patch could be eaten by roaming herbivores, or just about anything else. No, I'm not talking about one lone survivor..... but hermie is a survival technique quite advanced for a plant.
In a sense it is an ultimate weed....considering how many animals are attracted to eating it..... a trait it definitely needs to stay around. Of course man has changed all that but evo is slow.

a "stable strain" has no hermy traits. when they make feminized seeds they find a plant that will NOT produce male pods, then they use chemicals to cause male growth. this ensures females only and not a bunch of hermies. so if producing male pods is good wouldn't the good plants do it? *confused*

So do you find it wierd that 5 different kinds with 2 or 3 of each all went hermie or sould the strain just be that unstable. Will a plant look really wounded if it was hermies do to stress? Iam just so confused because I got females and males and I obviously threw the male away and now to have all the females turn hermie is very discouraging, I will try one more time with these clones but Iam also going to head out and get some seed from Sacred Seeds out in Toronto, Iam just debating what to get, I was thinking maybe some LA Confidential or some thing. Iam a true conasure as are all my friends but I do smoke alot so Iam looking for both quality and quantity. If any one could recommend there fave most tasty and get you rocked strains that would be appreciated.
Thanks.

A hermie is 'considered" to be defective only because it is not what we desire from the plant. Of course the plant has a different perspective altogether.

Not unlike our consternation with the acorn...which refuses all domestication practices. The oak just doesn't want to break the deal with the squirrels.... another perspective.

I don't know the exact mechanism which makes the plant aware but studies have been done with plants and there is some sort of "awareness" It could possibly be that eating the others send out a signal...or a signal which was put out decreases.

I'm pretty sure it's not fail safe,.....nothing is, but nature is lazy and doesn't produce something for nothing.

stress or genetics .. theyre not good by any stretch of the imagination, but they're not bad either. Just keep them seperate from other females, unless you hermied them on purpose for fem seeds
