Effective Lighting for Bubbleponic System?

I've built a DIY Bubbleponic system and I have some questions about effective lighting for the system.

I purchased and 30 gallon Rubbermaid container from Wallmart (actually it's some other brand but I can't remember what it's called at the moment). I have 6 pods in the container that are each about 3.5" to 4" in diameter. So each of my systems will be capable of handling 6 plants.

The systems are roughly 32"x29" across the tops.

I'm curious as to how many of these systems could effectively be lit by a 400w HPS? I'm thinking I could light two systems of the lamp possibly 3.

I'm sure it will depend on several variables as far as veg time, bloom time, etc. Does anyone have any input they could share?

Thanks.

I am using a 400 watt MH/HPS conversion. Seems to be working out pretty well. Check out my page I have pics up of my grow journal.
