max potency and resin production

i do both but i only got pics of one of my soil grows from yesturday. its the same to me really. i like aspects of them both. i think its up to which one your better at. are you a better gardener? or are you a better chemist?
First off...+REP! Those are some sexy girls. Secondly, I have always thought that it was more a choice in being a gardner vs a chemist. Since I am just an old redneck, I chose soil. I have never grown any other way and I can say I probably won't change now, I am to old.

I like to keep up with the new technology but only for educational purposes. Something about that dirt smell...building my lil "beasties"...building my soil...building my buds...savoring that taste...Hydro has it's place...just not in my garden. :weed:

i actually joined this site to learn how to grow using a hydro setup. after endless hours pouring over the options from dwc to aero to drip, nft, and so on i decided to just stick with good old soil. im simply too lazy and cheap to grow using hydro. i aslo need more of a cushion for mistakes, which i make seemingly every crop.

well for growers like me , I have had more sucess with hydro in ways of quality... I found outdoors (in a guerella enviroment) it was to hard combating the bugs and elements that came through the area, indoors I can controll EVERYTHING...

this is very true. I am currently looking into how to grow in subcools super soil. i never read much on organics and soil because the consensus was that hydro grew faster and yeilded more, so i was thinking why the fuck would i do soil and organics. i think it has its benefits.

the organic vs hydro thing is bugging me.
i know there are many benefits from growing organic, as there are for hydro.

but judging by the pics i have seen over many threads and forums, it seems that organically grown buds look better, meaning better color and a lot more trich production.

If you are dealing with say two equally knowledgeable and skilled growers in organics and in hydro growing the exact same strain from the same breeder it will be about a coin toss as to what turns out better and that may depend on what run of beans each one’s beans came from. If I had to give one some edge over the other I would likely say hydro, if everything is done right, will slightly produce faster. Again though that is if all things are equal between the two different systems and nothing else could be factored in to cause it. In either case if you do not do everything right you will not achieve optimal results.

When it comes to growing pot of course genetics are the biggest most important factor but to achieve optimal results then an old saying that is often times heard when some golfer says they want some different new type of golf clubs to improve there game is it is not the arrow, it’s the Indian. In other words to achieve optimal results in every way you need to do each step correctly and if you do that the difference between the two different systems you mentioned will not at all be dramatic and will instead be minimal at best.

concerning potency and resin production, which method will make for snow covered, potent smoke.

That far more depends on genetics than growing method. As another saying goes, you can’t make chicken salad out of chicken shit regardless of how much mayonnaise you add to it. No matter what system you use you cannot take less that top or average genetics and turn it into something spectacular no matter what system you use or what you do. On the other hand you can take top genetics and only give them adequate care and nothing more and end up with higher quality pot than going with lesser genetics and trying to turn lead into gold with some elaborate setup and treating your plants like they are in intensive care all the time and babying them every minute of ever day.

If you want white plants buy a white strain.

have you checked out the hempy method? easiest/cheapest hydro system and its very hard to mess up. its a soiless medium and you can feed it soil nutes or hydro nutes. doesnt matter. i get good results. the best part with the hempy method is to build one all you need is a bucket, perlite, and a clone/seed. get your nutes and water and start feeding. you work with it a lot like soil too.

i believe its a choice as well. but if you cant decide and ur better at one than the other. i would go with which one your better at. gardener or chemist. and your never too old to learn new things. its what keeps the old guys kickin! you should try them hempy method too. i love trying new things, which is why i started the hempy!

I believe Organic is overall going to be the best smoke. It also depends on the garden and the gardener. Hydroponics are a lot funner in my opinion, yield more, and grow way faster. Organic is not a whole lot better, cause you can use organic nutrients in a hydro setup. Organic is lot easier and involves less skill considering all your really need is a pot, some shit, and some dirt. Hydroponics get a lot more complex with Different meters, controllers, C02, pumps, etc. . . . .

Yeah but if you mix a bad batch of organic soil you will have all kind of problems, you could have to deal with all kinds of pests, or have hot spots in your soil mix. With hydro you have more control, you can give your plants exactly what they need, Thats why experienced growers who get their system dialed in Hydro can yield so much.

no, i havent looked into that. i thought hempy bucket was a type of container, not a grow method. thx for the heads up and ill look into that.

Ive grown both and totally agree with brick top. Genetics is the ultimate factor that will determine resin production - In 10 years of growing from seed and clone there is one strain in my opinion that has beat them all in terms of resin production - OG Kush.

I have two images at www.cannagen.com - the first is Bubba Kush, second in the jar is OG Kush - both grown in Hydro. (Sorry site is under construction should be done may 15th)
