ok,thanks guys.i have 1 more question. i have a lot where i can grow a few plants outside but there is a street light close by, will this keep the plants from flowering? i heard this somewhere before.the light is not that bright but its light none the less.please help.
During the flowering cycle, it's best to make sure that your plants recieve 12 hours of UN-INTERUPETED darkness. The streetlight will only make the flowering cycle take a really long time.

TRUST me don't listen to these CFL growers...you need too many of them to produce you enough light to grow decent sized plants. CFL's are good for 1-2 plants ONLY!! The flourscent tubes will do a much better job, and you can "flood" the room with lights alot easier to get good canopy penetration.

Depending on the size of room and number of plants, it might be better to go with 400W HPS, mearly for the lummen output. Adding the flouro's will help. Under 10 flouro tubes i only grew 6 plants at a time in 2 gallon pots, and got on average 1.5oz a plant dried weight. Adding an HPS i would have gotten 2-3oz a plant. The right spectrum combination plays a big part in growing as well. I used 7 5000K and 3 3000K. Flouros are great since they produce virtually zero heat, and you can let the plants grow into the lights with no effects, cfl's would burn your plants leafs. The lights are easy to rig on a piece of plywood, and then hang and easily rig up a system to raise the lights when needed. I placed lights along the wall running horizontally to help with undergrowth.

well when i get my own place again it ain't gonna be very big so i'm not gonna be able to have that many plants probably 4 of 5 maximum. and cost is a HUGE issue. so i don't want any "special lights" that I need buy any extra gadgets for just to hang them. i just want something simple not too expensive that i can stick on the wall or ceiling or both to add some extra light... depending of course how much natural sunlight comes in the room.

Sounds good. You shouldn't need any fancy fixtures...i just used plywood and screwed on the ballast setups, plugged in the lights and away I went. To raise the lights I bought $1.99 pulley(s) and rigged it up to the hanger bar in my closet. Altogether I spent about $100 on lights and materials, minimal cost at how many harvests i'd get. About every fourth harvest I would change the lights out for new ones...unless they were replaced recently, just to maintain full intensity since all light deminish after so long...especially florurscent's. I a 4x2x6 space I used 10 lights total, and I was getting 1-1.5oz a plant, less light will yield you less.

Heed my words...don't take growing weed lightly...care for it, and give it ALL it needs and it will reward you in the end. I hate when people just throw a little bit of effort at there plants and expect giant buds to grow.

Plants need on average 75W per plant to grow decently, give them that and you'll both be happy. Happy growing my friend...feel free to PM me if you need further assistance.:joint::mrgreen:
