There is a time and place for Indicas in my mind, before bed or after a physically demanding day, but Sativas are the daytime high to have, makes me more energized and qualitative. However, you give me a Diesel genetic of any sort and I have my smoke selection set :eyesmoke:
my buddy just gave me a sour d seed... already germinated... guess he wanted to make sure it was good? n e way... i dont have any space for it but its fuckin sour D! idk what to do...

Yes, I kind of figured that out. My Lowryder 2 seedlings are about 19 days old. I haven't tried the hps with them. I tried the hps with some bag seed seedlings which were about three weeks old, they are now about five weeks old and getting big. I am trying to do lst like I've been reading on here because of the small space, and it seems to be working. I have three cfls on them. I just bought another flourescent light with a stand on e-bay last night, so I don't know which plants I'll add that to yet. I also found a hydro shop about 20 miles away, so I may get another flouro there to supplement the light. I'll try to find my camera cable and post some pics when I can.

If anyone has ever tried the Lowryder 2, I'd be interested in hearing how they were.

:-( Boy did I screw up, I'm really tempted to change to soil. All the water dried up in my aerogarden and my lowryder 2 plants were almost dead, drooping and burnt when I got home. The one in soil is fine and some are perking up a little. I don't know if they will survive. I guess only time will tell. I was trying to use bottled water but I've decided that they drink so much I'll just have to switch to tap water after letting it sit for a day or two, used this before and it worked fine.

A lot of people have really good results with soil, I guess it has its pluses... does anyone have an opinion?

I've decided to try to remove the reflector on my hps so that I can mount it high enough over the plants and make good use of that light. After all, I think that one of the most important things I've learneed on Roll It Up, is that you need good light.

About my poor droopers, I'm upset but what can I do, live and learn....

Thanks for the information KC. I've been checking some of the posts where people have used soil, and for my first attempt, I used Schutlz brand soil, seemed that people thought it better than Miracle Grow. My lowryder baby in soil is doing very well. I'm really hoping for a female, because with the damage to my others, its kind of bleak. I'm going to research more to figure out when it should be repotted. I bought one of those pots that has a watering spot at the bottom, so I won't be able to see the roots.

Good stuff, I personally don't mess with Miracle Grow, however some people swear by it. I'm a firm believer in nature and the power of organics. Plants can rebound from damage too mate, don't worry, take care of them and hopefully they haven't gone too far on you. Happy growing

I was in your position, and on the insistence of the cool old guy at my local hydro shop, I sprung for a cool little 150W HPS. For less than the cost of a CFL, you can add another fan, or build a cooltube. (DIY cooltubes are around here somewhere) Just keep an eye on your temps.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. Truth is, I did buy an 150 watt hps, but when I put it in, my plants went yellow, so I had to take it out. They do better with the cfls. I've read just recently though, that the 23 watts are pretty worthless, so I've been searching out larger watt cfls. Today I found some 68 watts at Home Depot, different stores have different products I'm going to try to take the reflector off my hps so I can maybe mount it differently and try again with the fans. I've also thought about making a higher grow area so I can use it for my next grow where its more private in the bedroom. Right now, I have them in cabinets in the kitchen which isn't the most covert, because you can see the light through cracks. I'm going to plant some tomatos and flowers too, just in case I get any questions. :hump:

Just be carefull on the Kelvin ratings. 6400K-6500K for veg and 2700K for flowering/
I generally order my lights from the link below. Click on some of the sizes to get an idea of what Ks are available per watt, cost/etc.
2 to 200 Watt Compact Fluorescent Bulbs : 1000Bulbs.com

In my small area I'm veggin on 6-27W 6500K 27 to 28 Watt 6500 Kelvin Compact Fluorescents
and 6 26W 6400K 26 Watt Compact Fluorescents
Overkill? perhaps, but that's ok.
I actually have a 400 swichable MH/HPS but I'm gonna try a start to finish CFL thing.

I've looked at HD, WalMart, etc and can never find the K rating on the boxes, and if I did, some listed 3000K as "daylight" which I believe is incorrect???

Just mind your "Ks"!

Hope that helps.

Kelvin ratings are important if you're trying to maximize the lighting you have, the spectrum won't have a significant enough change to be noticeable, I grow with 2700k through my whole grow for instance. I've tried with both spectrums throughout, 6500k throughout, and my now settled upon, 2700k throughout. I prefer the soft lighting of the lower kelvin bulbs, but really it comes down to what's available and what the grower prefers. Kelvins are more important on a larger scale such as in MH and HPS bulbs where there is a significant amount of "red" or "blue" light. Just my thoughts

Almost all boxes of CFLs I've purchased have displayed the kelvin rating in the bottom right corner of the back of the box. The numbers themselves are representations. For Instance, the lower the kelvin rating (2700k, 3000k, etc.) means it's higher red spectrum lighting and therefore beneficial moreso for flower. The higher the rating (6500k for instance) means it's higher in blue spectrum light better used in vegetative growth. Thanks guys

Thanks for the information. I'm going to check out that website too. Do you think that 23 watt cfls are worthless? Someone said like a nun with boobs, ha ha. I just ask because I've got a few on my plants and they seem to be doing okay so far. I just started flowering some of them.

I run complete grows with nothing but 23w CFLs with 2700k ratings (Cool). I've yielded at least an ounce/plant on those grows. Gives you a basic idea ... Good luck mate

New changes! I decided to try a new system from HydroSpirit. Its called an Advance Aero 4 which seems like it will work pretty well, if I can figure out how to attach the pump. I bought it off e-bay for like $60 where it says it retails for $120, so it seemed like a good deal. I also got a small grow tent 23" x 23" x 47.25" from Cheap Hydroponics, so I can have more height, and move the grow room to a less noticeable location. I wanted to put in links for those items, but I can't figure out how to do that, sorry. I'm thinking because the new grow tent is higher by about 24" than my current cabinet, I might be able to use my 150 hps. Can't wait to see if it will work. I have four female bag seed plants two weeks into flower and looking pretty good under cfls. I'm going to start some more Lowryder 2s. Unfortunately, my two survivors were males, oh well. Well, thanks again and happy growing.
