My dealings with the Postal Orifice here in the US are frustrating as hell too, I guess it's a global thing... crappy service...

They sure are... If I turn off the fan cooling the lights in my room, the temp SHOOTS from 75F to 120F in about 10 minutes...

for real on both points.

How are you doing this?

Are you just pulling air through the hood and exhausting it?

If so, are you connecting a carbon filter at the end of the exhaust?

Go with the biggest fan your carbon filter allows... go for a big filter so you can have a powerful fan... you will need all the help you can get ridding your tent of heat...

and Yes, carbon filters are rated for a maximum cfm... any faster and the odors will go through the filter...

Have you found a tub that will fit your space without any waste?

not really but i keep looking.

You can also think about using a bot of wood to build the tray and then line it with plastic...

But the totes are still cheaper...

nah to much hard work. i will keep looking for a tub with a lid and doesn't require painting.

It's very easy to transplant from DWC to Hydroton pots... no stress on the plants at all... at least mine went 120% smooth...

On a different note... imagine that you only had the top 15"/38cm of each plant... with no side branches... how many of those do you think would fit in your space?

i was having a look at just a straight potponics. i reckon i could fit 8-10, at worst 6.

And Steve, believe me... you plants look GREAT!!!! I am not telling you all this because I think you are doing anything wrong... You grows have been excellent and healthy...

But we can always improve on our techniques by "standing on the shoulders of Giants"... lol...

Be careful allowing unfiltered air to go outdoors...

You would be surprised at how acclimated we get to the smell...

You may think it's not bad, but the wrong person may just catch a whiff of it...

BIG FAN and carbon filter are your answers there...

7"/17.8 tall...

But these numbers are not set in stone... if you find smaller pots that fit better... by all means use it... make it WORK for you...

potponics is just like a soil grow without the soil. rockwool/hydroton and manual watering.

yeah i know what you mean about getting used to the smell. i haven't smelled anything outside the flat this grow after i've been out for a while.

the hood has an open bottom. tent has two big vent panels. there's still enough pull to create a negative pressure but probably not with a filter. bigger fan would definitely be needed.

and I would really just go with the ebb flow... manual anything has one big problem... the human factor...

Just put a water pump on a timer and you will not be able to fuck it up...

got up early this morning to pull out the lighting and ventilation to make some mods. pics attached.

basically i've made the pressed holes in the reflector much wider. they were only 1 or 2mm but now they are closer to 10mm. so that should give me much more throughput.

i've got rid of the two 90deg bends in the ducting to the fan and replaced them with a 45deg bend. i also shortened it to 1m from 2m. there wasn't anypoint having it that long, the tent is only 1.2m high. the rest of the ducting is now on the outtake of the fan.

fingers crossed. i'll update when i've fitted the hood back once its wakey wakey time, 6pm gmt.

oh yeah and a couple of pics of some baby bud porn once the hps had gone out.

hoods back in and on. may have to raise it tho. i've closed up the tent and i'll see how temps go. any probs i'll open it up and stick my floor standing fan on and fix the height tomorrow. hopefully won't need to, i don't like early starts.

It seems there is not enough hole for the air to go through...

Best way to test and see how much restriction you are causing with the hood would be to have the fan running and connect and disconnect it from the hood, if the fan struggles and slows down sucking the ducting in...

you need more slats... I would hate to poke more holes in the reflective part of the hood, but you MAY or MAY NOT need them.. just make sure you don't burn up your fan...

hiy gyspy. that was a pic before i widened the holes properly but you may be right. i did stick it on the exhaust end earlier and the flow 'seemed' adequate. now its in the tent flow still seems fine. still negative pressure but i had that before making the holes bigger.

if it isn't enuff then i will start with making the holes even bigger, then drill new holes and then just cut out a 100mm hole. if that still isn't enuff then i guess it's spending time agian. .
