cant really tell from the photos .

are the spots powdery,if yes it is mildew
when are you watering them and how.?

but pumpkin leaves get damaged easily and it normally dosnt effect the pumpkins.so if the pumkins are setting on the vine and seem to be growing .then water in the morning (dont worry about the leaves if they wilt real bad during the day it is normal on a hot day it is to help stop water loss) dont water at night as this helps promote mildew

ok i usually water them roughly every 3-5 days either in the morning or late arvo after the hottest part of the day,if im just watering ill bring the hose aroung but if im feeding as well ill use buckets.The pumpkins do still seem healthy and growing,if it does turn out to be powdery mildew and worsens should i give em a milk spray?

yes and stop watering in the evening or late arvo as you call it' the plant stays moist al night and can promote mildew growth.

or you could use a mix of two tablespoons bi-carb per gallon with a good splash of powerfeed mixed in.
it is a good remedy for many garden moulds

Righto thanks,just a couple more Q's while i got ya ;-)

1. Are the pieces of wood a good idea/necessary?
2. How long generally from fruit set to harvest??
3.Should i be worried bout rats chompin em?
4.Anyone heard of Spaghetti squash or would know where to get seeds?

I dont ask for much ay :roll:

Are the pieces of wood a good idea/necessary....not needed

How long generally from fruit set to harvest...you will notice the stem of the pumpkin pinch in when ready(they will grow all summer)

Should i be worried bout rats chompin em....no

Anyone heard of Spaghetti squash or would know where to get seeds....yes and the diggers club have them

The 3 fruits are still alive and developing as far as i can tell,the small 1 which is bout the size of a softball hasnt grown much more and looks like its already startin to ripen so im thinkin maybe its a Golden Nugget or Sugar Pie? Another im pretty sure is just a QLD Blue, and the other disc shaped one im told by my uncle who gave me the seeds is supposed to be pretty rare (only knows of one other bloke out in the sticks that grows em and thats where he got the seed) so i dunno? Does anyone think they might know what it is?

I harvested my first 2 pumpkins a couple weeks ago,they werent quite done but i was only growing them for fun and mainly for the seeds,and i must say it was fun & it felt like a fukin accomplishment,i was proud actually,i stroked them for about half an hour,yes i know they're not the most difficult plant to grow but it was my first go so screw u hippie. You may ask urself 'is this guy fukin weird or wat?'

looks neat,why not try a hanging tressel setup?

set up like a chicken wire screen up and box it in with dimensions like 20ft by 20ft and put post on each corner and make it sit about 4ft off the ground and plant your pumkings around the perimeter and train them to grow up and vine across the screen,and when they develop fruit,it will fall below the screen and develop. it will develop at a faster rate bc gravity is pullin it down causing to get all the water it need to grow,and this way you wont get slugs on them nor flattend sides,you will get nice round fruit. tinker with the idea and you could possiblly get more oversized developed fruit:clap:

Actually, I just started last week.

I'm growing BIG MAX Organic seeds by Ferry Morse. I germinated about 4 of them in rockwool cubes, about 5 or so days. Now I've got them sitting under a 400wHPS and they've doubled in size the past 24 hours. I'm amazed at how THICK the root is already.

I'm waiting on the cool front we've had here in the 'southeastern U.S.' to blow over a bit, then I'm going to plant them with some Beefsteak Tomato's. We'll see.

They're going in the ground in the next week or so, and am going to be feeding them my old nutes from my 'other' grow and plenty of water.

Any advice is good stuff... Thanks.

Completely off topic here but what the hey,i had a crack at makin Guava jam today & i must say it turned out pretty good,beautiful on toast,just a little too much sugar though,but the next batch'll be perfect!
