gnats

well its summer time round here.So the gnats are out in full force, an now i have a little gnat problem startin in the grow box.I have been usein neem oil for a couple days now an it seems to be helping, but i have heard of adding a couple saucers of beer on the floor to help kill them.Has anyone tried this an does it matter what kind of beer(lager,ale,domistic,mexican).Stupied fuckin gnats not a real bad problem just annoying.

Actually they can be a problem. They lays thier eggs in the soil and the larvae feed on the little root hairs and the nutrients you add. This affects plant growth and yeild. Neem oil sprayed on the leaves doesn't get to the larvae. Additional remedies need to be applied at the medium level and are dependant on the medium type and watering system. As an example, if you are using coco coir with a flood and drain system Mosquito Dunks in the resevoir can be effective. If your growing in soil and top watering you could put a layer of sand on top of the soil. Stop the adults from laying eggs. More detail may help in solving this problem. VV

i had the same problem in my rockwool with my seedlings.i had to take them outta the grow room. i put patato chunks on the rockwool and the larva all went after it. i just changed the patatos out ever 12 hours and there gone now. i put a bowl of coors light in the grow room and its full of the gnats, but so is my rez. but ya it helps. along with the sticky fly paper strips
