how much plant can these pots support?

I'm kind of in the same size constraint boat. Got 1 gallon pots right now and the plants have made it to about 7 inch tall 1 foot wide at the largest. I am going to upgrade the size to 3 gallons, except one is in a 2 gallon already and I will leave her there, going to see the difference between the 2 gal and the 3 gals that way.
Been veggin for like 3 weeks so 2-4 more veg weeks (1.5-2ft tall) and I'm beginning the flowering stage. I have a feeling the tops will be hitting the ceiling of the attic, anyone run into that and had a big problem?

:arrow:anyways im still not sure whether to go with 4 females in 4 2.5 gallon pots or to go with 2 females in 2 approx 4 gallon pots. i dont know what to do..im leaning towards each like 50 50:wall:. i could definitely use more opinions on this..

buuump. is it so hard to get a few intelligent opinions on whether or not i should go with 4 plants in 2.5 gallon pots or 2 plants in much bigger pots?:confused:

what i would do hell its what i do. go as big as you can for your size room. you can go wrong their. just make sure you have the height also.

Hell, I grow 6 foot tall plants in a 6" inch square of rockwool now, so what do I know LOL!

I think you should grow in the small pots and take them through veg quickly so they don't become root bound. The bigger the pot, the bigger the plant, the longer it takes to grow, but also a higher yield. If you go with more plants in the smaller pots, you'll obviously yield less on each plant, but you will have a quick grow.

It appears to me you want quick weed and in my opinion you can do that without making the plants become root bound.

I'm no expert, but that's my opinion from my little experience and reading a lot of info on forums and sites for a couple months. I'm always open to learning so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

ok, yeah i guess there isnt a ton more that can be said. looks like you can actually grow some pretty good sized healthy plants in pots my size or smaller

what height would you say i should start flowering at in these 2.5 gallon-ers? 2 feet or so?

its all about what are you looking for as to yield. then room size,then pot size. if your looking to grow lot of colas 16 oz cups is the way to go. if your looking to make your medication last the go as big as youcan for your room size. this is also another thing to keep in mind. if your not sure about your 1st grow then the more plants you in smaller pots would be better. this way if you have plants die of for some freak reason then you wond't be f~~ked. and bigger pots the ess you have to water.

alrite..i think ive decided to just stick with the 4 2.5gallon pots. and grow relatively small plants and just harvest asap. for my 1st grow im cool with doing that..i'll try for monsters later haha.

Ive had 2 1/2 foot plants in the same size pots. Then a couple weeks before i began 12/12 i changed pots. Iwent up to a 5 gallon butcket for flowering. No major problems and harvested a a oz per plant.

I just do not see why so many people want to grow in such tiny pots? If they believe that more plants equates to more bud they are mistaken unless all they are after is colas and do a SOG and even then there is no guarantee that the overall yield will be more, it my just look more impressive because it is all colas.

Small pots equates to root-bound plants. Root-bound plants equate to the following.

The following symptoms may be observed if you allow your plants to become root-bound:

  1. Stunted Growth.
  2. Stretching.
  3. Smaller and slower bud production.
  4. Needs watering too often.
  5. Easy to burn with low % nutrient solution mixtures.
  6. Wilting.
Why intentionally create conditions that will cause at least some of the above problems?

People that grow in smaller pots and then are impressed by what they end up with just do not realize how much more impressed they would be had they grown in larger pots. They assume that because what they see seems impressive to them that they did things the best they could be done but that is just not the case. As nice as their plants may seem to them they would have been more impressive if the plant had more room to grow in.
