How Much Longer for Trich's to Turn Amber?

Hey all,

getting closer to harvest my first grow :weed:

was wondering if anyone knew how long it typically takes for trichomes to change from milky to amber? I know this differs from strain to strain, grow to grow etc. but do they change from milky to amber faster than clear to milky?

They've been budding for 53 days and i don't see much amber :( Both strains are supposed to complete flowering in 55-60 days so I'm hoping they just suddenly start turning amber at a fast rate...?

Here are some pics from today.

NLX in the middle, Bubblegum on the left:

Bubblegum lower buds: Frosty!

and a trichome shot from over 10 days ago. Even more have turned milky since, but no ambers

So can anyone give me an estimate on how much longer?

TIA

if you want a 50-50 split about a week...if you want amber 2-3 weeks and prune all yellow leaves (wasted energy)

those buds look nice and dense...if you let them go for 2-3 more weeks... keep an eye for bud rot

Nice Job! They look beautiful. Im sure you are gonna enjoy your harvest. Wish I could try a bowl or two! Those buds look sweet and really close to harvest but be patient. Most strain take at least 60 days no matter what the breeder says. Wait for a few amber trichs or some leaning ones. With some strains like BlueberryXCinderella99 the trichs never turn amber. Instead they start to lean over instead of standing straight up. Enjoy. Peace Out!

AFAIK leaves are actually the energy source for further growth of buds at the end of the plant's life cycle. Once they're drained of energy they wither and fall off naturally.

Yellow leaves do nothing to further bud devolopment...thats why they turn yellow the plant is concentrating its energy on the bud developement not the leaves

Thanks BK! Hey if you're ever in Switzerland you're more than welcome to enjoy it ;)

Well let me get more accurate: there are some amber trich's on the leaves (you can count them- literally) but non on the calyx. I'm actually looking for no more than 25% amber on the Bubblegum for a good daytime toke and at least 50% on the NLX for a nice couchlock at the end of a long day :eyesmoke:

and thanks for your tips on Blueberry! I picked up some seeds of a related strain, Flo, so I know what to not look for ;)

+rep for you

You still have a few weeks left. Plenty of clear trics still....oh by the way, NICE PICS :hump: Leave the leaves unless they are more than 50% dead and ready to fall off.
I think you are safe to start a flush in about 10 days +/- a few days.

thanks Boneman.

That trich' shot is exactly 12 days old, if that's what you're judging from. I actually started flushing 4 days ago :-?

Here's one from yesterday. Not as close-up and colors are a bit off (taken under the HPS).

But I hope I'm not wrong in seeing mostly milky with about 20-25% still clear...?

Also there are some trichomes above the middle that appear to have some brown in the middle of the stalks.

Update folks!

I plucked off a few popcorn buds from one of the NLX (the one right under the HPS), quick-dried them for a few hours and rolled a spliff. I was blown away :eyesmoke: So much so that I gave her a good night's rest then chopped her down before she could see the light of day, err, HPS again

I wanted the NLX to be my bedtime bud, but it looks like they'll be yielding a lot more than the Bubblegum, and I definitely need more daytime bud! I still have 4 other NLX and 5 Bubblegum, so it's all good

I decided that the best way to find out what kinda buzz I want would be to harvest them at different times (or stage of trichome development/maturation).
