Toping the plant

Hey everyone getting ready to top my plants. but i've been reading about it and some people just don't like to do it why? Is it better to top your plants? or just let it do its thing? Can anyone lead me towards topping or not to top.
 
Depends on what ya want,lots of smaller buds or 1 great big one.Check the grow faqs at the top of the page and look up fim'ing your plants
 
I'm half way through an unintentional comparison of topping vs. not. The light fell on one of my Blueberry clones late in veg and I had to top it several nodes down because the light fell hard and snapped the main stalk.

Long story short... I'm 4 weeks into flowering with identical Blueberry plants except one has been accidentally topped and the other hasn't. The topped one has what looks like 4 colas forming while the untopped one has the regular xmas tree shape with a single main cola.

Harvest time will tell whether or not I start topping my plants or not.

Not much help to you, but several members swear by it. Each to their own, I guess.
 
it all depens on ur situation. it can reduce plant hight if it is an issue. but if you dont have too dont do it, let the plant gorow naturally.
 
Thanks for the advice everyone i think i'm going to just top half my crop and not top my other half see what happends will re-post on how everything weighed out
 
JMO most people top to get an even canopy if you top some and dont top other I would think the top plants wont grow as tall and will be the further away from the light than the non top plant. So IMO top them all or none at all. You want all you plants to get the same amount of light
 
In my opinion Topping just stresses the plant and produces smaller buds. FIMing is the way to go! You can get upto 8 main colas on some plants without stressing the plant at all and it also increases the yield.
 
i wanna use the FIM Technique but im not exactly sure where to cut ive found some interesting pics but they all kind of look different as far as where to cut

Basically you just pinch or cut about 80% off the new growth at the top. I should have taken pics of mine before and after and posted up a tutorial but maybe next time.
