thanks a lot LAMP i was looking for someone to agree with me on this R/O water, everyone tells me its the best but im having problem with it..

So my next question:

My tap water is 500 ppm out the tap?
Could i mix half r/o water with half tap? and make some good water ???? =) 250ppm suitable?

also how should i flush properly? can i use any water? do i just let it sit in ph water over night? or how long?

and when i add my nutes back in what a suitable ppm she is 5 weeks old....thanks SO MUCH MAN..i would smoke you out right now if you were closer hahah..

If you are usig R/O water it's almost certainly a magnesium def. And the chlorosis spotting on your leaves fits that def. Tap water has more calcium and mag in it, zinc and me also.

Get some epsom salts and mix with water and do a few foliar sprays, every night, before lights out. That is the cheapest and fastest acting solution to a mag def.

You can also get some mag supp stuff from the hydro store. I am using something called Huvega from Botanicare and I noticed a difference right away when I used it to treat my mag def. All of my spotting stopped and I now only have the few spots on damaged leaves from before I treated.

I got a sample of it for free from my hydro store (if your local store carries botanicare then they have some samples of this stuff as well most likely as its a new product)

deff. gonna change my water out right now as we speak? gonna do a flush also..should i wait to spray with epsom salt after the flush or does it matter? what is the best water to get? and can i mix store bought distilled water with tap water??

I had almost the exact same issue on my first grow of WW. My plant is 6 weeks in flower right now. I had the same pH changes and ppm jumps. I eventually started adding cal/mag to my water and it has seemed to help. I never got the problem 100% under control but I will say I have buds all over my plants.

I use tap water that is set out over night. The ppm on the tap water before before any additions is around 250 ppm.

Try the flush and then keep watching the plant as you change the nuets. I have a target in my veg area of 1000 ppm for mature plants and 500 for others. IN flower I target 1500 ppm.

My biggest issue right now is heat in flower room.

finally some good new haha..that great man im glad to hear you got through it and have some great buds. white widow is a little bitchy..i have hope tho, its just suck so bad to open your grow and see rust and brown spots and be stuck on whats going on haha..i just recently did a good flush with h202 i mixed some distilled water with my tap water at a starting ppm of 135 hoping that will help her out since i was using r/o water and it wasnt helping.. i gave her about 500ppm of nutes just to see if it eats it up so im crossing my finger?? should i add cal-mag now? since there already a defincie or wait to see if it spread's again?? im afriad to over do it, but its hard to tell if its geting beter or worse since its already WORSE.....thanks again man. u have any pics?]

You posted on my thread... Let me know if you have any luck... and let me know if you find anything that works. I added about 1/2 tsp of Epsom salts last night... and another pinch this morning. Im using Distilled H20... but thinking about going to good ol' fashion tap and see what happens. I can get to the hydro store till the weekend... but they are very helpful and I will let you know what the guys suggest. This has me going nuts! On the bright side... all my new growth looks awesome... and my roots look good. Im stuck!

How often did you use cal-mag?

I would add the cal / mag to the system. I have been adding 1 ml per gallon in both my veg and flower rooms and it has improved the issue. It is not 100% gone but it is much better. I'm trying to get this first grow out of the flower room and adjust on the next round.

My goal in the next round is to always have the cal mag in the mix. and to keep the ppm at or below 1500 in the flower.

attached are a few pic (1) the issue in veg then a bud at about 4 weeks.

I start my water flush today and harvest in about 10 days....

ww does not eat a lot of nutes. i think the most mine every ate was 900 ppm and that was when they were like 5 feet tall!!!!!!

your using full stregth nutes on tiny little plants your killing them

you should let your plants grow without nutes they will turn paler green as they get hungry then you know for sure


also if there is not enough circulation in your little bucket the nutes can settle to the bottom, making your ppms go up when u swish it around or add water cuz the water will swish up all the nutes that settled on the bottle and make your ppm look like its rising every time you add water

way too much nutes.

well there a lot of factor too like your ppm meter. your ppm meter since its a diff brand may show 1200 ppm, but mine in the same water might show 800 ppm


unless we used the same meter we couldnt be sure the right ppm, as it also depends on the Pheno of ww you have and which seedbank you purchased it from.

but ya for now i would do just water and see how it goes. see if they get better, after they get better the crispy leaves you have will die anyway but you will know they are feeling better once you see new growth,

You really should. It's way cheaper than Cal-mag, which is just calcium and mag in an expensive bottle. I would bet my entire harvest that you're just suffering from a very very common mag def (especially for anyone that has been using r/o water, changing your water now will get you on the right track, but i doesn't come close to the immediate effectiveness that a foliar spray with epsom does). The second most common def in a garden besides nitrogen is mag, and luckily it is the easiet and cheapest to fix. Epsom salts cost about 1$ from the grocery store and one carton will last you multiple harvests.

So what i did was the 8 step recovery process washing the rez and roots with 3% h202.

I let her sit in water all Night. She became very droppy, So i added her back in new rez with half distilled/half tap making my starting ppm 135. I then added 1/4 strength of my fox farm Nutes to a ppm of 400 and ph 5.8.

So a little update the ph has been drifting up very slowly and has not gone over 6.0 so I am thinking thats a good thing

the ppm has slowly went down which i belive is a good thing also..went up about 20 points for 1 hour and went back down

There is deff. new growth which looks great, but then again all the new growth looked fine until it got bigger so i will have to wait that out and see

and for the fan leaves that already had the problem i see no sign of it spreading over night

Im going to watch her ppm and ph tonight and see how she does with just nutes, if i see any signs of more spreading im going to immediately add the cal-mag .

I will post picture up tomorrow letting everyone know how REHAB went haha...and i appreciate all the help for If she recovers i owe her all to you guys on this THREAD..

Also im using a hanna Ph meter and A HM digital PPM meter so would i be reading the wrong ppm??

I also have both cal-mag and epsom salt which one is better? i know epsom salt is for mg deff. and cal-mag is for both ? so should i just go ahead with the cal-mag, im just afraid of over doing it and locking out another nutrient.

By the way what kind of of nutes are you using and what the percent of calcium and mg in it?

Im using Fox farm Grow Big trio line
With Hydro Grow Big 3-2-6

2.0% calcium
1.0% mg

So am i lacking Mg? should i just go with the epsom salt? dont wanna add 2 much calcium and lock out Mg.

U have a severe!!!! Ca lockout, no doubt in my mind at all. When u use HID lights the plants can handle more nutes. With flouros u have to back off the nutes. Also, water varies sooo much from place to place along with strains, u have to make ur own choices on nute strength based on how the plants react, not based on what someone told u should work. The should work part will get u in the ballpark, from there it is up to u..

I'll take that bet with anyone who wants to put it up! U just told someone how to intensify their problem, thanks a lot... U can tell it is ca def because the necrosis is outlined with a lighter shade of brown. If u add more mg u will only make the problem worse.

PS, Calmag is Nitrogen and trace minerals too, not just expensive Ca, and mg...

im no were near a hydro set up but i experienced a very intense cal def on my soil grow!! the def started exploding after i fed my plants with nutes!! my solution was to add nothing but plain water to help the salts that have built up break down and start increasing my soils ph which was way off due to adding to much guano in it!! when i stopped using nutes and started flushing my babies with R/O water the def stopped new growth showed no signs of brown spots and dead patches then i gave them a supplement feeding with almost no NPK but with some trace minerals and 0.28% of cal and 0.12% of mg this helped with the deficiency alot as my buds started growing again and new growth didnt show signs of the deficiency!!! i know this has nothing to do with hydro but i think the principle outlined from BIGP is that now that u have the deficiency ur plants cant take up the nutes ur giving them and ur only adding to the problem that created the deficiency!!! from my little knowlege and soil experience i would try to use as little of a ppm as u can until ur plants recover and then slowly start adding nutes in their feeding!! hope this helps and if im wrong somewhere plese someone correct me!!!
