I was thinking about picking up some clones of GDP for my next batch but have been hearing a lot of conflicting information so i am trying to clear it all up..

DO NOT REPLY if you have not gown the strain or had first hand knowledge of the grow.. i dont want any my friends uncles cousin says bs.. thanks in advance

now first of all i have heard people say that it flowers in 50 days, and others say it flowers in 70 days. i dont necessarily believe either one, but think it falls in the middle considering its heritage but was wondering what you guys have experienced.

second is the yield situation.. some say it is a notoriously low yielder like its purple urkle counterpart, while others say it is a good yielder and a fast flowerer. at the same time people say that its grows slow, and doesnt get big but the nugs are rock hard and weigh out a lot more...

now i know it is basically a big commercial strain out here (in cali) which leads me to believe that it flowers fast and yields pretty well, but at the same time its probably the best bet for anyone trying to get a decent yielding purple strain, which are few and far between...

so anyways could a few peeps here in cali who have actually grown the shit give me a heads up? i dont really care if its not the best yielder (like trainwreck) cuz its a phenominal smoke (for a purple) but i dont wanna get shafted and get half of what i would have gotten going with another medical strain...

It depends on what cut you get. I've grown GDP from clone that I received at a club. The bud didn't have much purple in it even with cold nights. That made me curious because I had recieved bags of GDP that are more than half purple. What I found out is that people try to cross Big Bud and Purple Urkel again to make a "better" cut. The cut I recieved that was covered in crystals, not a HUGE yeilder but decent and yes, rock hard buds (1k w HPS). Oh yeah and I cut the lady down at 60 days. So the people saying it took 70 probably got the more urkel dominant. Hope that helps :/. I haven't actually tried this but have heard from A LOT of people that "Ken's GDP" is the best cut you can find. I don't know the flowering period or the yield of that cut but I know its killer smoke. Better than your avg. gdp.

people like it because it's purple and only because it's purple. what does that tell you? if it was good for anything else they'd be praising that, wouldn't they. like "wow, this GDP is hella stony", not "hella purple". see what i'm saying? if you get off on colors, go for it. :bigjoint:

see thats what i was figuring, that people are trying to reinvent the wheel.. i cant imagine all the GDP going around all being from original genetics..

i totally feel you there fdd, tons of people get off just cuz of the purple.. its sick..

the only reason i wanna try it out is because first of all i have never grown a purple strain, and second god a hellacious deal on 95 clones which im having a hard time passing up..

and i have smoked some urkle which is an amazing fruity smoke, and since GDP has urkle parents i wanted to possibly check it out.. but thinking about how many varieties i could end up with and your avid hatred for purples is starting to make me think LOL

Oh come on. You've never had some purple that put you on your ass? I would agree though I've had some GDP thats just, ehh but then again, I've had a great batch of GDP too. And yeah, kids go for it cause its purple, but I must say... I've gotten my hands on a few purple strains that were incredible.

purple is purple is purple. it is a dominant strain. you cross anything with purple and you get mostly purple, from my experience. to me, one purple is no different than the next. you can sample 10 nuggets of white widow from 10 growers and they will all be a little different. purple is purple is purple.

sure i've gotten high off purple, but no more than anything else. it's hyped because of rappers. plain and simple.

I think the placebo effect works extra well with MJ so is purple really that bad if it makes them feel better, even though it's just a placebo effect? Just something to ponder when it comes to smoking our lovely MJ.

i beg to differ..had plenty of purple taste great and rock my world..it's not about rapper wannabe's..someone sounds a little testy...i'll put my purple plant up to anyone's green for appearence and effect..fdd you sound prejudice, what are you red or something always bad mouthing rap..d@$k head!!

i dont think its about the rappers its about rarity.. if all bud was purple and only 5 percent was green people would fiend for the green.. its just different and different draws a crowd... anyways back on topic

who else has grown GDP?
