Large Grow Room Cave - Comment!

Check out this grow cave. Made from a small room behind a wall with secret entrance.

Its a 8x8x6 room with Mylar walls, ceiling, and floor.

We use a 1000 Watt Lighting System with alternating MH and HPS bulbs.

We use fan duct exhaust, oscillating fan, and a vinegar/baking soda CO2 hook up. We use a small heater to maintain temp.

This is our first crop and we currently have 16 plants. Capacity is between 25-30.

Caves are awesome in that they're usually cooler than a garage or other area which tend to absorb heat through the roof and whatnot. Great idea, but putting mylar on the ceiling? And the roof? LOL! Do what you want to, but in my experience mylar was a complete waste of money, and no better than flat white walls. Also, if you plan on spraying your plants, you'll most likely ruin the reflective surface anyway.

I say put that light on a mover, and soon, otherwise you're going to end up having to move everything around in there quite often.

more lights! get that ballast away from those plants too, hows the elecricity? can you add more lights without issue? dont listen to this guy about the mylar its 95% reflective...also u have a heater in there, take that out and add more light, you have an air cooled hood add a fan to it and move it closer to plants , this will create heavy dense nuggets

Why does the ballast have to be away from the plants?

Don't we need a heater to keep the temp warm when the lights are out? Its cold and it goes down into the low 60's if not.

We can add more light... what do you recommend? A 400 watt?

So I'm full of shit? I've done this for a long time man, and I've never seen a grow room to this day (even all my different ones) able to pull mylar straight enough to get the benefit from the extra reflectivity. And like I said, if needs to do any spraying in there, he WILL get the surface of that stuff all nasty, and it's a BITCH to clean.

If you can make that stuff work for you, great. I did away with it a long time ago, and never noticed any difference, except a fuller pocketbook from not spending any money on it.

agreed. i foliar spray my girls often and mylar wouldnt last long at all. plus i got a gallon of cheap white paint for a fraction of what a roll of mylar costs and when the paint gets dirty i just give her another coat!

I agree with you on Mylar.

To me it was a complete waste of money, true it is reflective but it is a bitch to put up, I constantly messed it up when I was moving around in the grow room, and it does get shit stuck all over from spraying.

I chucked the stuff and painted my walls with white paint. Absolutely no difference as far as production and it cleans up easily.

jesus, settle down fellas! great grow man, the plants look good...i love mylar and have never had a problem with it, just tape it up and you're ready...i love spraying my plants too, i just don't spray the mylar and it stays very clean! also, i used to have flat white walls, and since i switched i've noticed better yields in my setup with mylar...i agree, move those ballasts as far away as you can, there too hot for the growing environment...i keep mine in my spareroom closet...what strains you growing? i'm subscribed...good luck.:leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf:

I believe if mylar is going to be really effective, it needs to be perfectly flush with the wall and not all wrinkled up. Its so wrinkled i would believe you if you said it was taped to a cave wall. With the condition of the mylar right now i would say white paint would be better. If you can get it damn near flat, it might be just as good if not a little better than white paint.IHope this helps...good luck...crank it out brother
