Hey, so I also asked this in my grow journal (check my sig), but I wanted to get some ideas on this before I went to bed tonight.
The seedling was only about 1 inch tall, and the fan leaves are still pretty small, so I assumed there wouldn't be much root growth. WRONG! I lifted the rockwool cube out of my soil to set it in some water, for a last watering before leaving it be, but I saw a root! There was a small, 90% opaque root that protruded about 3/4 inch from the bottom of the rockwool (1 inch cube). I set the cube back down gently, and got scared, haha...
So, my question: Does this amount of root grow mean that I should water more? Is my tap root really stretching to find that water? Or is that amount of root growth normal? Take a look at my seedling, and should my root be long enough to protrude 3/4 inch out of the bottom of the rockwool?
Temperatures: steady 70 Fahrenheit
Relative Humidity: steady 65-70%
Watering: Never given it a large amount at once. In the last 3 days, I've given it minute misting on and off, and poured in about a 1/4 cup of ph-ed water twice. As you see in the pic, my pot is a bit big for the seedling, so maybe with the amount of water I'm giving it, the soil is just spreading it out too much? I've never poured this water directly on the rockwool, only around the edge of it.
So, any advice would be awesome! I'll post more pics if necessary, but this pic was snapped like 15 min ago.
EDIT: A bit more info - in the last 24 hours, the fan leaves have grown MAYBE 1 mm. At this very very early stage in the game, is that normal?
