Lighting schedule question

I just started my grow today in the soil under 1 CFL and im having trouble figureing out my lighting schedule. Can i veg these from the start with 24 hours of light? or do i need to do 18/6?

I dont have a timer so ill have to do this by hand everyday so if i can use 24 hours of light it would make things alot easier.

LOL.... Leave it on for 24hrs. Either light schedule is safe. The reason for 18/6 is usually to save on the electric bill when running a powerful HID and Heat Problems. You might want to invest in a timer when you flower.

If you are going to do this as a hobby, which you will because its an addictive hobby,

get a High Intensity Discharge Light. You will get 4x the bud.

yes HID's are better but as for more buds not true, but but better and bigger and harder buds yes.

As said by my... any cycle is OK...its not so much what the cycle is, but that you maintain it.. its the change of cycle that changes the plants task...veg/flower.. my last lot were a 17/7,18/6 cycle and were fine.... I'm of the school that does a dark period but thats my preference... its more for my sleep benefit than the plants............ Luck....

*Try to get another CFL and get a Y splitter... they'll veg well with less stretch if you place plant in the middle of lowered light...

Thanks everyone for the quick reply! I knew you could veg for 24 hours but i wasnt sure about starting them off with that much light. I only have one cfl light so electric really isnt an issue


And and PS i started a grow journal, and i plan on growing outside. im just starting things inside.

An HID is either a Metal Halide or a High Pressure Sodium,... and if not mistaken also a mercury lamp.. which is too old school for me.

if he gets denser buds and better and bigger buds then surely the grower is getting more bud.

HID means high intensity discharge. There are more lamps that fall into this category than just mh hps.
