Northern Lights Weird Situation

I got 2 northern lights plants, and 2 of some seeds i got for free when i bought the seeds from a bank. lets focus on the NL, they are 12 in tall, and the 3rd set of 7 pointed leaves are coming out now. the plants are very healthy, and im growing them inside, on a window seal. they get 8 hours of sunlight a day. my pic is one of them. they are 6 weeks old, i started on feb 1st. im just wondering if anyone knows approx how long it will be until i see signs of the sex? and how long is it until a NL harvest usually? and also how long until i can see the bud in general?

where can i see your pics?

i know what im supposed to look for, for determining the sex, but im not sure if i see it or not. this is my first grow ever, and im not sure if its just more leaves coming out of the middle, or if those are the hairs that are on a female plant.

do the first signs come out at the top of the plant? or is it out of the sides?

do you plan on growing entirely on the windowsill? or will you move them oudside? under lights?

i grow NL and they show sex in just a few days when switched to 12/12. my NL takes 8 wks but i also use bushmaster which shortens the flower period by up to 2 wks. and you can see the bud in general when you can see the sex, what you are seeing do determine the sex IS the bud.

im planning on keeping them on the window seal.

oh alright, i thought you can see the hairs 1st, then the bud later.

so then your going to use the sun for the entire grow? if so you will either have to manually place them in the dark(total darkness!) for 12 hours a night or wait till naturall 12/12(in the fall). but if your gonna grow entirely on a window sill(i dont recomend this but whatever) i imagine your plant will outgrow the window sill before natural 12/12 occurs.

with the way you are doing it i would say you should be able to tell in a month or so. yes you willoutgrow the window seal. goodluck

okay aside from the seal haha

heres a pic of my set up.

you can see fake plants on the window sill which give cover to my babies that are on a plasitc bin thats about a foot down from the window. and i live up on the 3rd story. its genius!

if you want them to get bigger you'll want to repot em. how big is the closet? 400w is alot. i love northern lights man. my last seed just ended up being a hermi, so i saved the pollen. now everything is going to be northern lights!

Secondly I tend to think that plants used to the sun will not like fake sun but I have never tried that so it will be interesting to see what happens. My plants are at seven weeks as of tomorrow and under a 160 dollah cfl from ebay high output.check it out:


they are growing in three gallon square containers. The iportant part I think is the sqare shape. They fit more economically less wasted space easier fitting under the rectangular light footprint. What is your soil comprised of? What are you feeding those northern lights? Attitude seeds has northern light seeds for sale too they talk of the superior short time to the growth and flower period, which makes sense what with the short growing period at those lattitudes. Though all the NL I use to smoke was grown in Alaska it was all indoor hydro. Rippped bro, silly stoney fool sitting on the mountain tops. Anyways try some composted salmon on those plants (one table spoon per gallon) I think you will be happy about that and dont worry the smell goes away.;)

i wonder if it would be bad to switch from natural to bulbs?

ive noticed that my plant dosent look as lush as yours, your leaves are fuller, wider, and darker. is that bad on my part, or is that a different kind of plant as mine?

they are in 8in wide plastic pots. with 1/2 generic potting soil, and 1/2 micacle grow. i havent used any thing else on them besides water.
