10 day old seedlings not grown in 5 days

My plants are about 10 days old but they have looked like this and not really grown at all in about 5 days now , getting worried something is wrong , friend tells me they are probably just developing a root system but im more pessimistic any ideas would be appreciated, checking this post alot any questions post em i will answer asap, please help thx




lasqueti haze
indoor grow-closet
2x 85watt 65k cfl
medium- 60% scotts potting soil/30% perlite/10% worm castings
watering every 2 days approx
lights 18/6
no neuts- just started today at 150ppm
temp is 73f 37% humidity lights on
lights off ive seen it at about 67f
soil ph low 7 ish according to the ph tester i bought today

I thought i was overwatering a few days ago so i held off a few days so i guess i dont water every 2 days exactly but when i checked today it felt pretty much bone dry, i read something about watering it from the bottom through soaking so thats what i tried today, usually when i watered before even just a tiny amount of water on top would drip through the bottom like it wasnt being absorbed, this is the wettest its been all the other times i watered the soil when was dry on top.

Dood, they are developing roots and trying to score some light, what are those a few 23watt cfls? you should upgrade the lighting and make sure they are pretty warm at least 70 if not hotter. Just need time.
pessimism is not a good attribute for the plant cultivator, plants need your support man!

my friend i understand that you have just watered these plants,but the soil looks saturated not moist.let them babies dry out for at least 4-5 days and im sure you will see a difference in them....hope it works out for you in the end

I agree with much that has already been stated. Excessively moist soil will cause slower root growth & I've noticed myself through experiments that root growth & leaf/stem development directly effect each other. The temperature of the soil & air also can cause slow growth...if the conditions are cool than development will be delayed. Make sure your lights are no further than 3 inches from the tops & if possible keep them 1 inch away. Your pictures seem to show you doing the correct things so just be patient. The only other thing that comes to mind is that maybe your soil is not airy enough, but your mix sounds pretty decent. Water from underneath is a good practice. Your sprouts do look quite healthy except for that one.

were do u get clamp lights that can handle more then 150 watts,,,,cause my clamps are rated for 150w but if i try and put my 65w clf in it which gives off 300w it doesnt work???

I got them at lowes, bayco brooder heat clamp light is what they are called rated up to 300 watt max.


And thx to everyone advice I will try not to saturate them in water next time i just thought nothing was happening with them for a while so i got worried and tried to fix it i will try and be more patient.

what are those a few 23watt cfls?

nope they are 85 watt cfl's they are monsterous like 8 inc long got em on the net , probably too big tbh but didnt know they were as big as they are till they arrived

thats what i did last time but i watered some from the top as well should i just stick them in a bowl of water for a bit or whats the best way?

Yeah and two CFL's isn't enough for 4 plants, go to 6.

Also the soil looks WAY to wet, all because the top is dry doesn't mean the roots are.

If your PH is 7 that is bad, You want 5.5 because anything higher than 6 can kill the plant.

Also DO NOT use any nutes because they are still young.

I have 4 more bulbs for later,they are pretty big cfls, i was planning on planting a few more tbh .

I have been following https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/937-how-grow-marijuana.html alot it says seedlings can be given 150-250 ppm of neuts, and soil ph should be 6.2-6.8 maybe im a bit higher than that

5.5 or 6 is good for hydro, but in soil you want 6.5 to 7.
Soil looks more like mud so it seems to hold water very well, but plants need oxygen for the roots so you need to let it dry out between waterings.;-)

Yea, I think your soil is to blame, too muddy = not enough drainage/aeration. Just take it easy on the watering and you should be fine. Personally, I think the best way to determine whether or not to water is by weight. when you water yer plants, take note of how heavy it feels.. Check it after several days and see how much lighter it is.

4-5 Days without water for seedlings? Would that not kill them or stunt growth? I water my plants 3 times a day i just spray them a bit but id say if i didnt do that they would be well dead by now.
