Question-Starting indoors with CFL's

Hey rollitup,

I am a new grower and i am planning on going outdoors with my grow. I was just going to start them in my room with nothing but the sunlight. but i though that doing that may cause streching and would ultimatly be the death of my plants before i even get them out there. The most efficient way to get my green growing would be to start it with cfls in a cab. I want to do like 5-7 at a time. I would only let them grow until they are just big enough to go outside. How many cfl's would I need? what would be the best lighting sched. for what i plan to do? How often would i water?

Hereis something that works great, get a white 5 gallon bucket. Plant your seed in a 16oz plastic cup. Get a 2x4 or 1x4 and get one of those ceramic light bulb bases like they put in basements. Mount it to the middle of the 1x4 and us a lamp cord. Get a 40 watt CFL. The board is wide enough to hold the light in the middle of the bucket and plug it in 24/7. When the seed pops out it will have plenty of light plpus the light will reflect back of the interior of the bucket, and you can grow some reall good plants up till they reach the bulb which you can prop up the bulb so the plant can grow higher till it reaches the top of the bucket. That is the best way to do it and you will hae a great looking plant.

will that be enough to keep it from stretching? it would be enough lumens psf, but would it penetrate enough? Do you have a link? I am intrigued

I had great luck vegging under 4 - 23 watt initially and then under 10 - 23 watt when they got alil bigger. Key is to keep the lights as close as possible to the plants without touching.

Dude, it's my own invention, no links, I just looked and 42 watt bulb is the ticket, I think I've used 32 watt cfl before without any trouble becuase the bulb is shorter. It grows the perfect little plant everytime. No stretching all the light is reflected in the 5 gallon bucket. It's almost magic.

its actually a large filing cabinet drawer that's in a desk. its very wide and deep and is about a foot or more in height. Today i went to lowes and got 6 plug in sockets and 1Y coupling, so seven lights. I am going to hook it up via extension chrods. I think that will be enough to do 6 or seven plants, and thanks i will defiantly go for the 40 watters.

if i veg it for 24 hours a day and then bring it outside, it wont accidentally flower?
