possible to overlight a plant?

i mean over light the plant not burn it!

just hypothetically if you took a 4x4 area and light it with like 3 1000w hps lights all properly vented for heats sake, then dropped the lights to like 18" above the canopy would the plant love it or is it way past the plants ability to utilize that much light?

Yes very intense lighting can "bleach" a plant. It would be hard to accomplish indoors without actually burning it though, unless your using high powered led's or some other low heat high light output device.

I don't think it's that hard to accomplish indoors. My 400 hps has bleached many a leaf indoors without burning it.

Yes, there is such a thing as too much light.
