Well in all fairness atoms actually do make contact (Ex: Elastic Scattering, or a Nuclear Reactor that uses neutrons to split atoms) How do you think stuff gets really hot, it's the kinetic energy of the atoms and the subsequent collisions of them as well. The binding energy is what holds atoms together and can be broken through natural decay methods done over time, or by various unnatural methods, one being Neutron Induced Fission. It's split into multiple other, now different atoms along with photons, probably some other negligable molecules, and new neutrons to carry on more fission. Sure, objects expand and contract with temperature changes, but under severe high temps the kinetic energy of the atoms rises greatly and they will collide with eachother by overcoming the magnetic force of repulsion.
Gravity is still a huge mystery to science. So I can't really confirm or deny your statement, but typically in Nuclear Physics the two are perceived very much differently.
Again, the one frustrating thing about nuclear physics, like a lot of science, is it is all extremely theoretical. But this is how modern science believes it to be and it does make sense and definitely works.

But you should know that the forces of repulsion and attraction of an atom can be easily overcome, hence fission and fussion. An atom is a form of energy (E=mc2) And energy cannot be destroyed, however an atom as we know it can very easily be 'destroyed' and no longer exist in it's previous form. Hell, a proton can become a neutron, a neutron can become an electron, etc. It's kind of hard to imagine we're being 'used' by atoms, even in a figurative sense.Yes, so far as we know now, energy (atoms) cannot be destroyed, only transformed into something else.
That is as close to immortality we will ever get. Being used by atoms. Our egos however fade away (thankfully).

That's a pretty subjective statement. Almost emblematic wording, but I don't quite understand if there's supposed to be some sort of substantial meaning in any of it....other than we live, then we die....sort of lucid, right.I think that is what I said.
We are not being "used" by the atoms as I have explained in my previous posts, but we exist by their agreement, so in a sense we are at their disposal. We will be disposed of as soon as the agreement ends by any number of variables.

I guess I was just confused on the word 'agreement', which I consider a sentient term. I like the cog and wheel analogy, I never heard that one before. But I don't understand why so many people have to insist on absolute indubitableness of their beliefs (Christians, Islamics, Atheists, etc.) I'm not sure if you're actually implying any of that...I may be (more than likely) misinterpreting you again....and if so, sorry in advance. So much empty space . . . . the ghost particle is the neutrino. Almost undetectable because it passes through "solid" matter.
