These lights are also excellent for starting seedlings and clones, as their cool light will not dry out the soil as fast as an HID. They have a low intensity, and are gentle on newly germinated seedlings, and are great for clones as they wont dry them out or give them too much of an early blast.
Although you can successfully grow and flower a cannabis plant under a fluorescent, your results will be poor and you will most likely be disappointed. Use these lights only for seedlings and clones, and perhaps the vegetative stage of the cycle. A HID light is recommended for flowering.
Let me rephrase It used to be that flouros were only good for starts and vegging. Seems that they are improving almost daily now. Replaced my 400 watter with some t5's.
you'll get great compact growth if using floros and leaving them within about 1" of the plant tips, but your yield will suffer because unless you go with the hi-output floros, they just don't have the lumens you'd need to get big results.. they have a ton of advantages though, less heat, cost, etc.. give em a shot!
mogie you can't alwasy say that floro's don't handle flower well here are some pics of my girls. ( i had to join the the board just to show you guys this) by the way the pictures were taken 32 days flower
from past experiance floros work awsome for clones small mommas but u will get at least double the bud weight from an hps lamp. the investment will pay for itself in the first or second crop
yeah, so im planning on growing soon, but never done it, i've been reading aloooooooooooooot on here and other places, and im confused, how much are the hps lamps? can i use a heating lamp? floros? what?
heat lamps are a no no. depending on the size and kind of hps or mh lamp can range from $100-$500+ depending. i would go with a [FONT=verdana, helvetica, geneva]Sunlight Supply Sun System VII Super Spectrum 800 Watt fixture combines Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium lamps. i like using mh for starting flower and hps to finish flower. but if you can get a combo of bothat the same time some killbuds should pop out. and for the bulbs hortilux 400wsuper hps and a normal 400w mh bulb. if its your first grow start out with a few cfl's cool white and warm a mix of those two should do you fine for one or two plants tops.
alright, thanks...well, seeing as how im low on cash and really just growing maybe 2 plants, i think i'm gonna go with a few floros, if im not satisfied when it comes time to harvest em, i'll upgrade to mh and hps lighting...but for this one im going with floros, thanks for telling me about the heat lamp thing, im glad i didn't use it, lol
I am currently 6 days into flower for the first time. I made my own cab utilizing the wick method with GH nutes . only using sidelighting but i have 14 4foot T8 bulbs placed vertically around the perimeter. my cab is 3ft wide 2ft deep and about 4and ahalf feet of growing room. i hope they will be getting enough light about 8000 lumens /sq.ft. They look really nice. pics to come soon.
also i could only find 3000k bulbs for flower, but the cri is 86 will this be okay? ihope so 'cause i had to buy 36 of them, guess i am going to be growing for a few seasons lol.
