Just turned on 250 hps and got way too hot!

The homebox got up to 100 degrees with the 250 hps on with several fans. Theres no fan directly connected to the light tho. I'm wondering if this would be a good purchase?

With a cool tube does there have to be some ventilation going thru it or does the cool tube do all the magic? any responses will be greatly appreciated thanks!

a cooled hood will reduce your heat significantly but you are going to need a fan to extract the air still, i'm thinking you don't actually have an extraction fan to remove the heat just some directional fans to move it around a little.

i have a 4x4 budbox and i use a 600w mh for veg and a 600mh and 600hps for bloom in it and i don't have a cool tube, i have one directional fan inside the tent and a 6" extractor fan/carbon filter

Have you done any research man? Just because the bulb is surrounded by a tube doesn't the heat from the bulb disappear. You have to attach 6 inch ducting to the end of the cool tube and attach a fan to the ducting so that the heat can be sucked away from the bulb and out of the grow tent

ya thats what i figured, just wasn't sure cause i thought i saw a plugin connected to the cooltube but nvm. Checked out your grow but couldnt see exactly how you cooled your light. If i get this cooltube and vent it out would you think the temps would drop from 100 to appropriate temps?

The homebox has built in vent ports correct? Attach a 6 inch inline fan to the vent port at the top with 6 inch ducting attached. Have the fan sucking the air out not pushing. Attach the open end of the 6 inch ducting to the cooltube. This will make the air get sucked from directly over the bulb and out of the tent. Search google and I'm sure you can find some nice pictures of how to setup

where does your 4" fan vent to,

which direction is it moving

do anywhere for air to get into the tent?

i think that it may be rigged wrong in some way or not optimal, because unless its 100 outside you shouldn't be getting those temps with a fan filter combo, something isn't working how it should,

i've got a 4x4x8 budbox with a 6" fan filter with 2 600 watts running in it right now with no heat probs

interesting... do you use a cool tube? also where is your budbox located? Mines in a closet so the only other thing i could think is that after a while the hot air leaving the tent might have a chance to come back inside basically circulating the hot air?
