how can i increase resin production in my grow?

Ok, a few things here...

#1. (take this to heart) CO2 is money!
While plants do use O2, they thrive off of CO2. If you have unlimited access to CO2, you sir, are in business. I would suggest buying a regulation device that can measure the CO2 levels (ppm) and auto-regulate your CO2 tank. Keep the PPM high... like 10k ppm. This will also help to kill off bugs and pests in the room. But be careful, it can also kill you!

#2. Bulbs
Make sure you're using a Hortilux brand bulb. Also, take heed of the life cycles of the bulbs. You should replace them every other grow cycle. Just becuase they are putting off light doesn't mean they are still in their prime!

#3 Nutes
I haven't done soil in awhile, but it sounds like the trichome problem is within your nutrients. First off, make sure the water you are using [and the soil] is pH balanced. Then, you should really only be giving them nutrients every other watering.

However, the biggest problem I think (again, I haven't done soil in a long time) is the nutes, or in your case, a lack there of. My nute regiment consists of a base (veg & flower), CalMag (my base is deficient in magnesium), root stimulators, enzymes, carbs, live bacteria, and more. I have a special nutrient for nearly every aspect of the plant's needs. My advice would be to read up nutrients and how the plant utlizes them. Maybe check into potassium based products that promote larger buds too.

#4 Genetics
Maybe you are doing things right. There's always the chance your plants just have shit genetics. And if you got them as clones from some guy who said they were great, they may not be. As you continually clone plants, the newer generations (atleast in my opinion) seem to get weaker. Maybe try getting new strains or starting something from seed...

As for the UVB bulb, I picked one up at my local pet store. They look identical to a normal light bulb, except have a tint to them. They require a conventional lightbulb socket. However, be careful with these. While UVB rays promote trichome growth, they also break down THC. So I would suggest using them very lightly.

wow awsome info bro. thank you, big time. i dont think im gonna bother with the uvb light. i am though going to look more into the nutes im using. i am using tiger bloom and as far as i can tell its working awsome. this is my 3rd real grow where ive gone from seed to harvest. i figured as time went on id learn new little things that make every grow better

1st grow i was growing in yard dirt, and using miracle grow nutrients. i was growing under floros. i had bug issues that first grow. i assume they came in with the dirt.
2nd grow: i started using 100 watt hps lamps with the floros. and i started growing in a mix of miracle grow soil, i added perlite , vermaculite, and sphagmon pete moss. but i was still using miracle grow nutes. the 2nd grow was way better than the first.
3rd grow: i started growing in pro-mix, i started using a 400 watt hps and a 600 watt hps. i also started using fox farm grow big, and fox farm tiger bloom. i added wormcastings to the pro-mix. to be honest this 3rd grow is coming awsome, and i was compairing the difference between this grow and the last. it already seems that there is more resin on these plants than the prior ones had by far. so i hope just the soil and light change will make somewhat of a difference. i hope .
so i really havnt been able to multiple grows in the same spot under the same conditions to see what does what .

the carboload is a great additive ive used it for years. also the thrive alive b1 red is great stuff for stressed plants and young seedling

Derived from both simple and complex carbohydrates that exactly matches a plant's carbohydrates profile. Specifically designed to boost the yield during the critical flowering period when plants use up their carbohydrate reserve to produce fruit.

out of it not sure why but for some reason I've always thought the crystals were a protection from drying out??? but that makes total sence cheers for the info

according to ed rosenthal switching to a metal halide light for the last 2 weeks of flowering increases resin in the plants along with a 3 day dark period where the plants are allowed to almost dry out completly(in there respective medium) for the last few days before harvest.

Alot of growers ignor the very simple water stress for resin production. You can simply withhold water similar in wine production where grape vines are kept in a severely dehydrated state nearing harvest in order to increase sugar and ester production. Add an extra day between waterings and the stress will increase resin production. Note that I say it will increase resin production NOT size of buds or yield

i always thought that resin helped protect plants in dry dry heat. so they wont dry out. so if i go from watering every 5 days to once a week will that help?

only at the end of the plants life cycle
it should increase resin production throughout the life cycle if you apply this method however it may diminish yield if implied early.

transistioning from every 5 days to once a week would work as long as those extra two days dont dry out your roots completely - you dont want to kill your plant, just stress it.

I have a bearded dragon who uses a 10 wat uvb bulb. I purchased this at the pet store (Pets smart, or pet CO) for 15-20 dollars. I no have two of them on my babys and they are gleaming with reasin. week 4, going on week 5. be carefull to get the right one there are two different kinds, one for forest annimals and one for desert animals. the one for desert animals produces more red light then the other one. GOOD LUCK.

i have to say the resin in this grow is 10 times last grow.probably because this is the first time i used nutes, and super thrive, and i went from cfls and 4 ft floros to 1200 watts hps. amazing difference

throw away the bottled nutes and do living organics. Full spectrum lighting w
from 280nm - 730nm. That will give you far more oils and trichomes.
