I have 4 Northern NIghts. One is in Foxfarm Ocean Forest and the other 3 are in Miracle Grow..They are about 6-8 inches tall. They are 4 weeks old and I just put them under 400watt MH bulb and now it looks like some of the new growth is growing out yellow at the top and at the nodes. I read it could be Mg defiency. I bought some Powdered Lime to put in the Soil to fix it. How much powedered lime Do I add to the soil witht he plants already growing in it. I know that u mix 1tbspn when u are mixing it in at the beginning, but I will only be able to mix it in the top layer of soil. Do I mix it in the soil and then water it with PHed water? Also I was wanting to add some Fish emulsion because it does not burn. IT says to add 1 tablespoon, but I have read to do half that. Please HELP ME REP REP REP

i would use your finger and dig a small trench around the plant in a circle and mix it into the soil then use like a toothpik and swish the soil around then water it

you could also use a ice=pick to poke holes around the plant then mix it into your watercan and slowly pour it around, give the plant time to soak it all in. but if it is a mg problem shouldn't it be epsom salts?

Lime has Mg and Calcium I thought. It is what it says on the bag. I just went a head and mixed 1/2 tablespoon of powdered dolimite lime and mixed it in the soil real good and then I mixed 1 teaspoon of fish emulsion into 1 gallon of water and PHed it to 6.5 and I guess we will see what happened in a couple days. The pot size are 1 gallon.

Anybody think this will help or I will just have to wait and see??

Dolomite lime is best used as a soil amendment. Once a plant has been potted, it is better to water them with epson salts.
Ok..so when I water in like 4 days? How much epsom salt should I use per gallon? Here are some updated pics and how often do I use the epsom salt? everytime I water?

Do you think me adding that lime will hurt it bad?

Magnesium (Mg)
Magnesium is a component of the chlorophyll molecule and serves as a cofactor in most enzymes.
Magnesium (Mg) deficiency:
Magnesium deficiency will exhibit a yellowing (which may turn brown) and interveinal chlorosis beginning in the older leaves. The older leaves will be the first to develop interveinal chlorosis. Starting at leaf margin or tip and progressing inward between the veins. Notice how the veins remain somewhat green though as can be seen in figure 15.
Notice how in figure 16 and 17 the leaves curl upwards like they're praying? They're praying for Mg! The tips may also twist.
This can be quickly resolved by watering with 1 tablespoon Epsom salts/gallon of water. Until you can correct nutrient lockout, try foliar feeding. That way the plants get all the nitrogen and Mg they need. The plants can be foliar feed at ½ teaspoon/quart of Epsom salts (first powdered and dissolved in some hot water). When mixing up soil, use 2 teaspoon dolomite lime per gallon of soil.
If the starting water is above 200 ppm, that is pretty hard water, that will lock out mg with all of the calcium in the water. Either add a 1/4 teaspoon per gallon of epsom salts or lime (both will effectively reduce the lockout or invest into a reverse osmosis water filter.
Mg can get locked-up by too much Ca, Cl or ammonium nitrogen. Don't overdo Mg or you'll lock up other nutrients.
