respect the UVA or you won't know til it's too late. we can hash this forever bottom line is 33% UVA 10% UVB. YOU WON'T KNOW UVA IS HURTING YOU.thanks for the repsones, i guess I just need to try this myself to find the "real answer", and i wasnt saying that uvb isnt bad for you, but its not that bad unless you live under it like wilson said. especially just one CFL bulb
Yea, except I've been hanging around a UVA blacklight for the past several months nonstop. You do realize UVA is needed to help your body produce vitamin D, right? It's nowhere near as harmful as UVB, which itself has enough energy to force oxygen molecules to bind to each other to create ozone - UVA doesn't have that much power.respect the UVA or you won't know til it's too late. we can hash this forever bottom line is 33% UVA 10% UVB. YOU WON'T KNOW UVA IS HURTING YOU.
you can get cataracts subdermal skin damage and skin cancer w.out knowing.. the UVB is too weak to warn you of your exposure with sunburn etc as to what the UVA is doing... The UVA will just be quietly raping the youthful tissue of your skin w.out you knowing
8deez8 you really have not a clue what you are talking about sir. As nocturn3 already pointed out..respect the UVA or you won't know til it's too late. we can hash this forever bottom line is 33% UVA 10% UVB. YOU WON'T KNOW UVA IS HURTING YOU.

Researchers at the City of Hope National Medical Centre in California found that the human body is less able to repair the DNA damage caused by UVB light than that caused by UVA light, a discovery that helps to explain why UVA is regarded as somewhat less damaging than UVB.
source : http://info.cancerresearchuk.org/news/archive/newsarchive/2008/july/18670669This appeared to be because of the nature of the damage. UVA caused the 'purine' bases in DNA to become oxidised and break down, whereas UVB caused 'pyrimidine' bases to stick together - a much harder type of damage for the cell to repair.
