How To:Treat water?

I currently am watering my plants with water from the sink but i use organic lemon juice to ph it to about 6.5. Previously i used RO water but i couldn't tell the difference so i started using sink water. The buds are good as hell but the overall health of the leaves could use improvement. I was told that the best thing to do is to leave the gallons of sink water open overnight or run a small fish air pump into your gallon of sink water.

can i get some light on these opinions? if not what type of water do you guys use or point me to a thread that's already answered this question.

Go to any fish store and get anything that dechlorinates water.I use Aquasafe,it takes out the chlorine and heavy metals,it also ph's the water to 6.8.OPH

Im not sure if it may help you any, but I was considering boiling my sink water then letting it cool down and adding wat I needed (organic lemon juice, such as yourself or possible nutrients? but not while boiling.) to get the Ph back to whatever, Im not even sure if it's really doing anything but I atleast know it should be killing the bacteria. Advice on this would be nice as well..

Lunchbox, I do think by boiling your water you would make it 100% cleaner but will the chlorine be evaporated? that's the only thing that you need to worry about in tap water. As long as you don't have a water softener. The TDS(total disolved solids) in your tap water is supposed to be a good source of micro-nutrients. correct me if i'm wrong.

The only reason to leave water out overnight is if it is treated with chlorine, by letting it sit out it gets rid of the chlorine.

I agree that RO water makes the water too pure and you get better results with straight tap water unless it is really bad.

You can use baking soda to raise the PH if you want to use something different.

Thanks for the tips! I used RO water in the past and the plants just didn't seem to like it. How ever if you speak to someone on another forum they will swear up and down about RO water. henceforth there is no right or wrong way to water your ganja plant.

Any more suggestions? What are you watering your plants with guys?

Are your air stones in your reservoir? Someone asked me if i bubble my water and suggested that i stick a fish bubbler or oxygen pump into my jugs to dechlorinate and add oxygen.

Yes you can get better results in certain circumstances but I've found the impurites in my water tend to work out for the best. If your water has strong concentrations of bad impurities then you will definitely get better results with RO water. Every situation is different.

You'll find that in a lot of cases, someone spends the money on something expensive it must be better so they will defend it till the end.

Like I said in the other post if your water has too much of something bad in it the RO will make a difference but in mine and your case it doesn't seem to work out that way.

Your lucky to have good water! Mine is hard as hell! I wanna grow with Artesian water!!!

I know I am lucky to have such water, you could do a blind taste test between my water and RO water and wouldn't be able to tell the difference. It is just a hair under hard, I think it is because of the calcium in it which works out so I don't have to add cal-mag.

I spent the money for RO and get better results with my plants and my aquarium just using straight tap water, go figure.

Where im at now I have a water softener, Ive always had good water where I was before. Does softened water have too many salts that may be harmfull, because I sprayed them last night with some of this I had left out for a few days because I ran out of distilled water and the leaves didnt look so great in the morning, I then realized what I did and went oh shit and dumped it all out.

I'm not sure I haven't researched that angle of things any. Thought about getting a water softener but it just replaces the calcium and magnesium with salt, my aquarium and plants prefer those two minerals so I never bought one.

Like I said, most of the time I just test what I have and if it works I don't worry about it. I only got the RO unit because everyone said if I was happy with the results I was getting now wait till I try RO. I ended up going back to tap water because I got better results with it over the RO.
