light leaks from air intake /air flaps of homebox ?

hi fellas

i use only 1 fan as extractor ,i use passive air intake /air flaps of homebox.

but there are many light leaKS from air flaps to inside of homebox.
how can i use air flaps of homebox ?
or must i use an activa intake ?

Light leak to roots is not a problem,you will grow some algee,but it will not hurt the roots.
I have posted to another question like this recently.I have two grows with clear tubs and am on my third grow now.if you are worried about it,paint your tubs.
Light leaks will be a problem though when you go into flower,unless you are growing autoflowering plants.
I do not use fans because i do not have the problems with getting fresh air and circulation,so i can not help you there.OPH

I use a homebox but keep it inside a dark room. If I put the lights on and close the tent, I can clearly see the light through the air vents and the zip. That IMO must be a two way thing, so I keep the room that contains the home box in darkness during lights out.

If the box is always in a lit room then you're going to have to use darkroom techniques. Light won't go around right angles, so you can rig up exhaust/intake covers with two right angles in them, and paint the insides of them black. Then cover the ends with black screen/filter/etc.

You will also need to use tape or caulk or something to seal up seams.

I am working with a pair of old thick socks over the exhaust to hide light leaks as we speak. close to knocking out the light. still in progress....just before flowering

I don't have any pictures, but I am sure you can find some on the internets.

It's a pretty simple idea, really. Imagine if you attached a duct tube or something to the intake or exhaust hole, then bent it at right angles (or more) a couple of times. This keeps light from getting in or out.

i have a grow tent and i tested it myself and it leaks light out but doesnt leak light inside, i turned the lights on and had someone zip me up in it nad the only light i could see at all was through the airflaps at the bottom and like 2 dots from where the velcro was at and the dots were so small it wouldnt do anything anyways but i still covered the holes with tape
