ok guys i just read the whole bill. so all cardholders will be able to maitain a 100sq garden producing no more than 6.5 pounds of usable marijuana a year. for a dispensiery of course you and employees must be 21. all employees will be issued cards indentifing you and your rights as the employee of said producer or dispensery. producers and dispenseries can can only maitain usable marijuana for 25 patients at one time. i take that as you can only have 2500sqf of flower canopy. or 6.5 pounds times 25. producers and dispensers will pay 10% of sales to the department set up for the program. dispenser fees will be 2000$ good for 2 years. producers will pay 1000$ for a 2 year license. this is a dream come true for many of us lets hope ingnorants doesnt kill it for us.
Thanks 420apprentice for taking the time to read the bill (and presumable some of this thread as well!). Please also take the time to send emails to your local representatives in support of the bill--links are on the first page or two, but there is some good information to include scattered throughout the thread. It only takes a moment and every little bit counts!

most my family lives nc.
i did for a year. good luck to all you stoners out there.
Thanks bossman, we need all the luck we can get...

lol dont forget the med patients:wall::wall: :-|:-?
Two steps forward and three steps back...

i just hope we can keep from turning in to cali with all the undergound dealing and illegal shops and many other problems that our bill seems to address ahead of time. cali bill i think was originaly poorly thought out plus the feds raiding on legit bussiness didnt make it easier. forcing things to become underground.

I found a thread discussing the illinois legislature to medicinally legalize, and apparently the bill required some changes in order to get passed. The one discussed, and this is crazy, is to also take away your drivers license if you are prescribed marijuana! How fucking insane is that? You could be a 30 year old cancer patient who is no longer PERMITTED to drive a car because of the medication you have been prescribed? That is just nuts. I don't even think I would want to be prescribed it then.

I worry that states like ours may view this is a positive step in correcting the flaws of the California system (whatever they are) and ammend our legislation to a similar effect. Will be keeping a close eye out for updates!

is that meaning it didnt pass?

Unless I misunderstood something the legislation is in a House committee. If that is correct it first has to clear the committee to then have a House floor vote.

If that would pass it would then have to go to the State Senate and would likely go to committee and then to the floor, if it passed committee, and then be voted on before it could also pass there so it is not like what is happening now is the final decision as to if it will become law or not.

Even if it passes the committee it is presently in there will still be a long road ahead with many hurdles and potholes in it.

Yeah, I recall reading that too Jerry and I was thinking WTF???
They'll prescribe you meds that call for your being cautious while driving that are muscle relaxants, pain killers, etc......and to take your license away??? Oh brother.....Look, I'm a damn good driver, TYVM....never been charged for a single accident--people just like to hit me every few years. But hey, I'm the nicest person you'd ever like to be in an accident with.......car totaled and thrown every which way and I'll never sue you. :-)
Back on track...I'm a BETTER driver when smoking. I'm not uptight, my muscles are relaxed and I'm FOCUSED even moreso than I already would have been "otherwise."
Pathetic........<<<rolling my eyes>>>Pot kills! Ya know, the only way I can see MJ being responsible for a car accident is if while you're smoking and driving, you drop your j and reach down for it........you know the rest. But you know, that's not what I call defensive driving either.

Thanks for explaining that far more eloquently than me Brick Top. Right now, it has go through/is in the process of going through 3 house committees--Health, Judiciary II, and Finance. Beyond that, I imagine it will have to make similar Senate rounds as you indicated. So yeah, its got a while still, but it won't be enacted until Dec 1 2009 anyway.

That means lots of time to continue contacting your local legislator and those serving on the committees.

I don't understand how you could be prescribed percocet or oxy's and not have your license revoked under this provision! Those things incapacitate you more severely and for a longer duration than smoking ever could, especially in high dosage.

This just goes to show that even though it is a medicine people still treat it like a street drug.

this is not true. the law is zero tolerance agains dui and dd (drugged driving) and applies to here and now. this bill has an amendment that would exempt pot smokers from falling into that category.

please read, don't just take a word on it.

Is that in reference to NC or Illinois? I haven't read the Illinois bill, just a thread of people discussing like us.

I believe Jerry was referring to Tennessee. As far as I'm concerned, I don't care what state does/doesn't enforce that....it's just WRONG.

i agree to a certain extent.... the way the laws are now, if you test positive for marijuana, you're driving drugged (and we all know that testing positive and being high are two completely different things...). this is why they make a clause to exempt medical mj users from the dd category.

i would hate to spend time in jail because i smoked a bowl two weeks prior to an incident.... ya know?
