Well you're just doing one massive full out grow. The difference here is that we have only a small box 4 x 2 x 2.5 feet in size whereas you have a large amount of room to allow the plants to do their natural thing. What a scrog is is a method of growing plants by strapping them down to the net and then only let the flowering tops grow upward and fill in the space where the full plant would have been. The plant is growing horizontally instead of vertically.if i were to try a scrog what would the difference from these pictures be? would it make any difference in the amount harvested dry?
Well actually if you search some scrogs on RIU you can find a whole bunch of people who've grown huge colas. The point is that you allow lots of flowering tops to grow but starting from a smaller height, so only the flowering tops are given room to grow.like is the point that you end up with the branches growing across the screen causing like a million smaller buds to grow? obviously you dont end up with large colas right?
Well Jordis this is the part that we say... we don't know. This is our first attempt at scrogging and at growing at all. We're still figuring out the tricks and learning through experience. We've done SO much research on all this though in order to try and insure that our babies stay healthy and grow nicely.noticed last grow when i tied down my branches to fill up the stems, it ended up growing branches off the branches, and the only thing i was dissapointed by was that the buds werent as large as id hoped theyd be,,,,but they werre the bomb none the less....instead of 14 large fist thick buds on branches, i got 100 smaller buds
Well we do regular topping which makes the branches shoot up like crazy. And of course there's training the branches to grow up through the right part and then tying down the stems to the net, so that there is an even distribution of light to most parts of the plant. It takes a shit ton of work. Several hours in fact, every time we need to tie down the new stems and train the other ones.so when you go with the scrog, do you topp or crop the plants? or is that usless with this method?
Hope those answer your questions! Your grow looks great so far. You should post some pics of that sea of green.
