i suppose it will work but you won't get the best of results, i think keico is referring to the bulbs' spectra, but hey it looks like it's already set up and you're gonna try it anyway :)

That looks like an incandescent. If it is then it's not going to work very well at all IMO... I'd use CFL's for vegging. Maybe 2 "bright whites" and 1 "soft white". You can get CFLs a lot closer without getting too hot. If you keep the bulb you're using you're going to get a lot of stretch.

The plant stretched to get closer and when it did her leafs were scorched.:spew:

no biggie, just a rookie mistake bongsmilie. With CFL's you can get them a lot closer without burning them since CFLs don't put off a lot of heat. They're especially efficient for seedlings too.
