Room temp 105 w/ cool tube is this normal 3x3x5'

Hey guys my room is 3x3x5' and i built a diy cool tube with a 230 cfm inline fan. Im not sure what temp would be w/out the cool tube but with the tube my temp reaches 105. I coordinated exaust cyles to run when temps get too high but soon as I stop exausting temps go right back to 105. Im injectin co2 so this is no good . I really need to know if my cool tube is functioning properly. My light is 600 w. What are your room temps if you dont exaust. How hot does it get directly under your light. What size fan do you use? What diameter tube do you have? What diameter fan and exaust duct do you use. I will be adding an electrical enclosure A/C unit so I can cool without exausting any co2 from the room but I want to maximize the cool tube and I dont think I am right now. Any ideas are greatly appreciated and will get +rep.

there is an intake on the backside of the room about half way down. I did try taking out all bends a taped all the ducting up so the runs where straight from the fan to the light. I get good airflow out the exaust side but the glass tube seems to be getting pretty hot thus heating the room. I got a pretty good bulb hortilux eye super hps maybe this accounts for the extra heat. Also i was wondering if maybe i need a larger diameter tube. Do you have a cool tube?

Yea if your aiflow on the exhaust side is good then your tube is probably too small. Yes I have a cool tube. 4ft long 6" diameter. 2 400w inside. for fans I have a 250 cfm inline and a 6 inch muffin fan, both for exhaust. lol when i hooked the tube up and turned the fans on I never had an intake so the ensuing vacuum sucked the poly of the back wall.

well I got a larger diameter tube . its the outer glass, of a candle from the craft store. and bumped up the exhaust ducting to 6". It helped out a little but nothing significant 2 or 3 degrees. Still gets to hot. Goin to pick up this a/c unit 2morrow.

thanks for the reply only pronlem is i am limited on space inside the room and i need closed loop air conditioning. meanin i dont exaust any air from the room or introduce any outside air in. Nice set up!

First be very careful what you use. Not all glass is created equal. Some thin glass will shatter very easy when heated and struck by objects or cold water. At least wear safety glasses.

Your right something is wrong and I think it's your glass DIY. I have 6" and 8" and even run 6 8" on one fan and have no problems.

1) Your DIY cooltube is cheap glass and lets all the heat pass through it. Real cooltubes have very thick glass and aluminum fittings. They can dissipate the heat better and faster inside the tube.

2) you need a source of cooler air, do you have that? If not you need to put a vent at the very bottom of your set up. Helps to keep the Co2 replenished.

3) You need a bigger fan? Your fan should do it as it can change the air in the room 3 times a minute.

So

do you have a cool air source?
Bigger fan?


I run a number of tubes 6" and 8" German made. Hammered SS adjustable hoods.

Better cooltube?
