Whats goin on everybody...Through long research iv decided to try and grow some trees in my home...but i have some concerns. The only available space i have is a cabinet, thats part of a computer desk. Its 1 foot and 1 inch wide, from left to right. From top to bottom, its 1 foot and 22 inches, almost 2 feet. and it goes in about 2 feet deep, from front to back. iv read that a 2X2 setting will be good for a newbie, but as you can see my measurements are a little off. Anyway, iv already orderd seeds (aurora indica). Iv read there small, stout plants, so i thought id go with those. And i can get a 200 watt HID bulb real soon. With regards to soil, i guess ill order something online. I Also have some mini fans to circulate air in, and out. Anyone know if this setup would work..im planning on just trying to grow one plant, maybe 2. Iv read grow articles and think im ready, just dont know if my space would be enuff to accomplish my goals. Let me know what you think...Thanks.

The only way that i can see this working is by using a method called SCROG. It kinda looks like this
Thats basically what im thinking about doing. although im gonna use a cabinet, so ill be able to have the plant totally sealed in. With only openings for the 2 fans, to let air in, and out. So you think this will be ok for me??

i am growing in a 15 inch deep X 2 ft wide X 34 inch tall space...was setup for 1 plant...I now have 1 clone in it also.
I use cfl's(now at appx 320Watts) they don't get very hot(room stays 65-75) I don't know how much heat a 200wattHID will put off, but I would guess more than the cfl's...I had to add a 5 inch squirrel fan for my exhaust (room was between 85-95 with computer fans)

Make sure you have a safe distance between the HID and your plant...You don't have a lot of vertical space and if you need 6-12 inches between your HID and the plant, you wont have much height available.

My grow is in my signature...I have added 2 more lights since the pics were taken...I am now on day 48 of flowering.

I would suggest to flower pretty early, I flowered at 28 days(7-8Inches tall) It is now appx 23 inches tall...(not stretched)

For the beginning stages, im going to use metal-halide bulbs, 175watt or 250watt...not sure which ones to use...any advice?

still new to indoor growing, and haven't had much experience with anything other than cfl's, so I don't know what kind of heat the MH or the HPS will put off.

I would suggest that your lights for the vegetative stage be the same lumen output as the flowering stage(or less than the flowering stage) either of the two(175watt MH appx. 15,000 lumens or 200watt MH appx. 22,000 lumens) would have the needed light for your space(some 150MH I saw are at 14000 lumens) The sun puts out between 5-10 thousand lumens per sq ft. You have appx. 2 sq ft(just over). Marijuana requires about 3000 lumens per sq ft.(minimum)

150 watt 14,000 initial lumens= 7,000 lumens per sq ft
175 watt 15,000 initial lumens= 7,500 lumens per sq ft
200 watt 22,000 initial lumens= 11,000 lumens per sq ft

that would be for a 2x1 space...

Those are some averages of the lights I have been looking at online.

Remember the lumens drop the farther the light is from the plant...
