i have here a question.a friend of mine tells me that it is possible to grow a crop of say,4 plants with L.E.D lights, one or or 2, using a par 56/64 rgb stage led light using the blue/red light.the specs such as watts etc i'm not too sure on but they are a direct plug in to the powerpoint,no ballast.has anybody tried using them?do you think it would work?all feedback is appreicated.

I wasted a few hubdred bucks on leds. Yeah, they somewhat work, but for a hundred bucks id rather buy a 400hps ballast.

Hps vs LED, here we go again...

Ok, IMO, LED's are the future, but they're not there yet. For the money, right now, you'll get better results with hps.

Check out my posts,

exactly the kind of unit you're looking for,

adequate power, realistic price, easily can add in other spectrums...

Those stage lights definitely have enough power, they could work very well!

if i had to choose it would be hps or even mh all the way. no contest even. i have heard very very few positive things about leds.

Can you elaborate on what precisely you bought? I suspect very low wattage r+b panels based on your brief description.

Do not waste your money on LEDs. Floros grow better than most LEDs
Take a peek at my 100% led journal below and tell me you still believe what you just wrote. I have used 13w,24w, and 65w 6500K & 2700K CFLs and watt for watt they were at least 5x inferior for both veg and flower. Again, these are actual first hand results and not speculation. Just sayin...
