Poll on Bud Squeezing

Tell me please, your thoughts on people visiting your grow who feel compelled or even necessary to touch your buds. I think squeezing can set buds up for, if not cause, rot due to bruising deep in the bud no matter how gentle someone "thinks" they are doing it. This makes ME CRAZY, and I fell like grabbing the offender by the neck and squeezing THEM gently. I even have a notice on the door: "TOUCHING BUDS WILL BE REGARDED AS A TERRORIST ACT AND DEALT WITH ACCORDING TO STANDARDS SET FORTH BY THE HOMELAND SECURITY ACT. PUNISHMENT WILL BE METED OUT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GENEVA CONVENTION."
People are still doing it though, and I don"t want to offend if it really doesn't cause or contribute to any problems. I don't squeeze my own let alone anyone else's. Seems to me they're either tight or not and by the time they're large enough to tell it's to late to do anything about it anyway.
So, I'd really appreciate any and all replies. Thanks, HH :evil::evil::evil:

touching buds while flowering can def knock off trichs... Why do you invite rude people over to your grow?

Believe it or not these are friends (?), not only that, they're growers. Hence the question that initiated this thread. Thanks for replying, I take it you agree with me. HH :hump:

I wouldn't say it causes bruising and budrot but it is definately annoying. Trichs harden up after dry but on growing bud they are very sticky (duh!). If you touch them they will stick to you or at least break their heads off and they can no longer develop (turn cloudy/amber) with broken heads. Tell them to make charas off their own bud and to stop touching yours :)

When the plant is growing the trichomes are sticky, not dry, so it's impossible to knock them off. You might get some resin on your fingers but that's it...

I've got one ugly little plant right up front, she's kinda like the fugly chick nobody cares about. "Go ahead, grab her tit. Just don't touch the pretty ones."

Dude, that's what i said - they are hard dried and sticky wet. By touching them when they are sticky you knock the heads of the trichs off their stems effectively killing them. If they are mature and stay on the plant you're fine. If they are still clear it is a waist just like if they stick to your fingers.

Thanks guys for the replies. Obviously there is quite a lot of agreement. Actually I would call the folks who did this "mentors" as this is my first solo grow and they have helped me alot in some ways. Thanks again. HH

I think I agree on the not squeezing buds, but I had a friend from Michigan who grew outdoor and he said that prior to harvest they would take plastic bags wrap the bud and give it a good squeeze. The theory behind this is that it would scar the flower and trigger a healing reaction which would rebuild and send more nutrients to that damaged area, creating more resinous denser nugs. He also said that shocking the roots with physical poking or pitch forks also was done. This basically shocks the hell out of the plant. The question here is weather or not shocking your plants sometime during flower can increase trichome production. Even so, I wouldn't want others squeezing my colas.
