Rounded tips on new growth - HELP?!?

My plant is pretty far into the veg state (actually its about 4 months in but lets not get into that). It's been growing strong, indoors under 20/4. Its fertilized w/ 15-5-5 once every other day. Recently I had fungus gnats and after a long battle, a 1" layer of sand on top managed to get rid of them. Now my new growth looks like well you can see it in the pictures. Any advice? Is the sand hurting the plant or maybe this is what the gnats did and I just didn't notice?

What kind of light and soil are you using?

And sounds like your over ferting it and if your feeding it every other day your over watering as well? 4 months is a rather long veg time.

K, well looks like an HPS from the picture ya posted. First thing I would do is Make sure you have enough room between the top of your plant and the light... She looks mighty close. Second, Make sure you have an adequate cooling system ideally ya want the temp to hover between 75 - 85 degrees. 3rd and this is a big one. STOP feeding your plants so much, YOUR OVER FEEDING if your feeding every other day. Flush your plants completely. Wait for the soil to completely dry and water them again. Wait for soil to completely dry and then Nute. This process should take about a week. I would look at putting her into flowering mode though... keep in mind she is going to jump 2x 3x her size when ya go 12/12 Good luck to ya. oh and the sand will not hurt as long as ya have good drainage.

thanks for the responses, I probably should have been more specific. I am using a CFL so the bulb is about 1" away but not nearly hot enough to burn. I am feeding foliarly (sp?) and only water with pure distilled water ~1/week. I stopped ferting when I had the gnats and just started up again recently. This growth showed up prior to when I resumed ferting. Regarding the temp, it is typically between 70 and 85 degrees but I'll keep an eye to see if it peaks mid day. I also have a fan on during the hottest hours of the day (oscialating) so I stays pretty well circulated. Lastly, its been vegging that long since I stunted it when it was a seedling by giving it nute burn and then the temp in my house was 70 and under for about two months and there wasn't much I could do. These facts considered, does this change your suggestions?

WTF...hps from the picture...the color looks blue to me..my .02..btw ..do you have any preflowers ? from what i gathered on the net and seen personaly..they should have or at least started to form by now...peace

what should i be looking for for preflowers? i havent seen any signs of flowering yet (but this is my first gro). I'm planning on starting flowering tomorrow but was hoping to wait until my clones rooted before moving it to flowering (purchased feminized seeds).

the color may look blue, but its probably due to the white balance on my camera, cfls all the way.

preflowers...what you wanna see if you wanna female..and by blue i meant ...if any kind of light colors of hid lighting..my guess would have been metal halide...peace
