A Question For Sativa Growers.

ive always grown indicas, but ive recently crossed some northern lights with some NYC Diesel and its obviously turned out sativa dominant.

my question is that im in week 7 of flowering and i barely see any trich development at all. im getting nice popcorn sized buds that smell great but barely any visible trichs. is it just too early?

how did you go about creating this strain..? if you only crossed them once then you probably just made a strain that isnt worth anything..

I get trichs after 2.5 weeks. How many seeds are you working with? How many girls?
i have a hundred or so seeds, but i only popped one due to space restrictions. i couldnt risk devoting alot of space/light to something that might not turn out a winner.

no, no backcrossing yet. you have to get one worth backcrossing first. and the low resin production certainly disqualifys this one i think. im gonna let it go the distance though, ive already invested 3 months in it.

thanks for the vote of confidence.:hump:

Come on dude. You cracked one seed. Are you going to do that 100 more times? 3 months on 1 seed cuz you're worried about wasting time, and now you get what you're looking for. I would start off cracking at least 30 seeds, but then I know what I want.

i dont have the space for an actual breeding program. i came across a single NYC D seed, it was a male, so i made some seeds with one of my NL girls. i never said i was worried about wasting time, i said i might as well see if the one ive spent so much time will pull it out in the end. im in no hurry to produce the next top strain, i just had the opportunity to give it a whirl so i did.

thanks for the replys by the way. you said you see trichs at 2 1/2 wks. do you start counting at the flip or pistils?(dont want to get into that debate, just want to know what your going by.)

and its not that theres no trichs. it just seems kinda minimal next to my NL. but my NL is 3 wks from finish and this new cross is at least 5 wks out if not more.

ill try to get some pics soon.

I do my counting from the first day I go 12/12.

5 weeks out still gives you plenty of time. You're diluting the NL though so there's probably going to be only one pheno in the cross that is as shiny as she is, but that doesn't mean it won't be a potent hybrid.

You got pics?

okay, so i took awhile on the pics.

i was definetly getting ahead of myself because they have resined up quite a bit now. the buds are getting nice and fat as well.

thanks again for your time folks.

heres one of the next one in line. about 4-5 wks

Am I wrong? They look like indicas to me.
i think your wrong. i have 6-10" between nodes and i know i have adequete light. its crossed with NL if you didnt catch that and thats why the fan blades are a bit wide. my NL has barely an inch between nodes.

I did catch that. I don't have much experience but I did get 2 super silver haze clones from the farmacy in Hollywood last year. I ended up cloning them and had over 25 plants. They looked totally different from any of the other indica strains that I had. I do know this: they take a lot longer to mature. But I love the strain so it's worth the wait.

refresh my memory....the SSH is mostly sativa, right?

yeah, i have no doubt that this pheno is sativa dominant. a little too sativa dominant for my taste. if i get the chance im going to backcross it with the NL a few more times.

thats cuz SSH is a sativa not an indica.

kepp flowering that NYC D some sativas take a while to start showin alot of thc they usually put on in the end.

and some times the glands are alot smaller too, than normal inica glands

I meant to say that I ALSO had indica strains, OG Kush and Afgani. They looked totally different from the SSH.
